Specify which services are federated and that the data is therefor transfered to third party and we cannot effectivelly control data protection practices of third party.

and that it will be done when it's absolutely necessary and justifiable to do so

So, which Disroot services are federated? Nextcloud, XMPP, Diaspora* and Hubzilla only, isn't?

Right. Then it would be like:

  • Nextcloud
  • Email
  • XMPP
  • Disapora*
  • Hubzilla

All of which have its methods to export/download the data.

Yeah but its not about exporting/downloading the data. This we have covered (though we should perhaps mention the link to howto already in the policy). It is about information that the data due to the federated nature is transfered to third party servers participating in the network which we have no control of. This is in order to make sure users are aware of the fact their data can/is stored on other servers. We need to then probably say what exactly data is/can be transfered.

Federated services

Some of the services we provide such as Nextcloud, Email, Diaspora, Hubzilla and XMPP chat operate on the basis of so-called Federation Protocols. This enables users signed up at different service providers to interact with each other. Because of the very nature of this protocols (ability to send each other messages, likes, share files, chat) some of the data is necessarily shared with other entities.

However, sharing data with other services providers is a user's choice and is configured by the users in their settings per service including the decision of with whom and what to share.

//What data exactly is shared between these federated services?

I think we can push it once we agree to tos. As fo what data is shown we should add it on per service section. Also remove Matrix as we do not officially provide this service.

Didn't remove Matrix yet since I wasn't sure. Done.
