The first sentence sounds wrong to me; however, since I'm not a native English speaker, I might be mistaken.

Concerning the consistency of numbering, for chapters 1. and 5. there is a leading dot also after the second number – i.e. 5.1. – while for chapter 4. this second dot is missing – i.e. 4.1.

Is the changelog file referenced within chapter 6. still actual?
If so, it should also be updated.

@floss4good please do. We would like to push it asap.

@Disroot/Owners I wonder if we shouldn't remove other versions then english. Others seem to be outdated and I think allowing for versions that aren't up to date is problematic.

we have a note in the about section:
"This document has been originally written in English and is the only version for which Stichting Disroot.org can be held accountable.

Any translation of this Privacy Statement is a community effort to make the information accessible in other languages and should be taken as such, with no other value than merely informative."

on a quick look, FR and DE seems to be up to date (including akkoma). i think we just missed to count up version. ES doesn't include akkoma @Fede and others ain't translated.

In order of occurrence, here are my suggestions:

Line 26:

Services: the set of different softwares, protocols

  • According to Wiktionary Usage notes this is a nonstandard form: Generally an error made by non-native speakers. In standard usage, software is uncountable; the plural might be pieces of software, software packages, software programs, etc.

Line 40:

(e.g. mail or open social networks)

  • At least for consistency I think this should be email.

Line 82:

In order to allow attempt at recovery from dataloss disaster situations,

  • Error correction software suggests data loss. See also on Wikipedia.

Line 113:

when interacting with email addresses hosted on third party servers (eg.

  • At least for consistency this should be e.g..

Line 225:

(Ip address, session cookie, etc)

  • At least for consistency this should be IP and etc..

Line 235:

  • All akkoma data such as,
  • At least for consistency this should be Akkoma.

Line 244:

  • Right to access - The right to request (I) copies of your personal Data or (II) access to the information you submited and we hold at any time.
  • Should be submitted.

Line 254:

You have the right to lodge a complain, make enquires, excercise any of the rights described above

  • Should be enquiries and exercise.
  • However, please also note that according to Wiktionary Usage notes for 'inquiry', The spelling inquiry is more common, especially in American English, but also in British English and inquiry should be used in relation to a formal inquest and enquiry to the general act of questioning. I also found on other grammar related websites that in British English inquiry means a formal investigation while enquiry it is reserved for less formal investigations. Furthermore, within the official GDPR text I can find twice inquir while searching for enquir does not bring any result.

The line numbers are valid for the current state of the proposed version.

Should the changes for February, 2024 (from section Last update of this Privacy Statement:) also mention that the retention period for backups was updated?
And should the section name be Last updates...?!

As for any outdated translated version of this document, from my point of view in such cases a short notice could be added to the top, near the version number. Hopefully will not be the case. Ups, I see you already have a banner for mentioning when the translation was last updated; this is probably enough.
