The dark red highlight color is hard to see when using roundcube in dark mode due to the lack of contrast:
Note how the unselected two fields in the top are barely visible in the screenshot.
Expected
Please use a different color to make it easier for users to see the UI. This can lead to all sorts of confusion in the current form.
Hmmm I dont know. the unselected items should be less visible then the select one, which in this case IMO works very well. Unselected elements stay in background while selected ones are not only having brighter border but also brighter element background. I think if the unselected elements will be more visible this would create more confusion as it will be harder to distiguish between what's selected and what isnt
While understanding the concept you describe, in this specific case the color used for unfocussed elements is barely visible. Keep in mind color blind users may just see a blank area without any UI elements especially in this combination of red + green colors.
Forgejo is a nice example of an implementation that works fine, to give an idea.
Roundcube does not use greens though. I think the color blind person would still see the border on unfocused element, but just darker. I do however agree that some improvements could have been done to make sure there is no confusion. I love the forgejo themes a lot and I do like the way this is solved over here and in long run would like to base all our coustom themes on those concepts here as they just work. When I have some extra time I will try to implement something and provide screenshots for further discussion and feedback. I hope @antilopa will also have time to try something out.
first draft based on suggested color scheme.
it looks great @antilopa
Can you implement this @antilopa ?
