Since Akaunting is now blocking us for updating coz we have the free version, we need to decide what we want to do:
I would go for the paid version, unless the akaunting master @antilopa says we could switch easily.
alternative i found:
https://github.com/InvoicePlane/InvoicePlane
https://www.invoiceplane.com/
other alternative, but way bigger(full erp and crm sw)
https://github.com/dolibarr
https://www.dolibarr.org/#features
I think dolibarr is way too much comparing to what we need. Invoice plane looks nice but looks like last release was last year though there are regular commits. I wonder about the plugins for one click payments like paypal, stripe etc. I would like to have a software we could do entire accounting on so that we dont need any other tools to be able to do taxes, overviews etc. We need to check if this software could be used for that.
As for akaunting, I think (I will test it this week), if we remove all the test/old companies from our instance, and leave just one account, if the limit of 1000 invoices a year really works and it doesnt count total, we should actually be ok to continue using it, or do pay the licence fee (75euro a year). As much as I hate the way they introduced the change, atm there is nothing more suitable I could find.
For now I would suggest, checking the InvoicePlane to see if it's a better solution for us then akaunting, and at the same time check if by removing additional companies and accounts, we can just update akaunting with no issues.
[Akaunting] - Decision about futur :)to [Akaunting] - Decision about future :)there is also the limit on number of users... https://akaunting.com/plans-on-premise
@antilopa there is an online demo for InvoicePlane. it is a little buggy (I have to log in again for almost any action!) but you can at least see what this offers.
IMO, this is fulfilling our needs:
But perhaps I haven't all in mind what you also need.
1 User + 1 Accountant
so basically me + meaz.
or we can have 1 user that we all use but than we will have to be careful we don't log in at the same time..
The only thing it is lacking is the accounting side of things, so expenses and account transfers and such. We might need another system to track those as well.
I agree about having only one user. I don't think it will be a problem, as I don't log that much, usually it is just to create an invoice or two.
I'm not too sure what's the difference is between accountant and user. But if Accountant has more rights, that could be @antilopa and we could have an user account that I could share with @muppeth
so we could:
Could you take care of the cleanup @antilopa ?
@muppeth antilopa already took care of the cleanup, could you try to upgrade to check if we still have the get the paid version?
Did update but it still complained. Seems like the invoice number is not per year but total. Just for the sake of continuity and transparency, we decided on xmpp to go with the paid plan for now. We then have a year to see if we stay with it or migrate to alternative.
@antilopa as we decided to go for the paid version perhaps I could create an account for me again, is that ok?
@meaz yes we could then go back to the same setup indeed. I wonder if we need to update first and then go for the plan. I will try to do it with @antilopa today when she's back from work.
I did create my account @antilopa
I'm closing this as the decision is taken ;)
