I have a suggestion. It would be nice to see disroot hosting a federated blog of its own. Writefreely would be a welcome addition to have. I personally am fond of writing on tech, travelling, home hacks etc.
Main Project: https://writefreely.org/
This appears very promising being FOSS and such. My only criticism is that I've looked at some of the instances and there is no custom theming on any of them. I wouldn't want a blog without custom theming, myself.
@Shadowstreik While it's true that instances that offer Writefreely don't offer the option to customize themes, but this is totally possible. There was a discussion on customizing themes in Writefreely,
https://discuss.write.as/t/themes/952
Therefore disroot can offer a customized theme based on beetroot.
HI there. Thanks for the request. Being able to host websites by disrooters been at least on my radar for a while. I did like a lot plume as it seemed like allowing more customization in terms of looks to what writefreely does. But plume is afaik not under development. So yeah writefreely looks to be the only solution. I will bring it up on next meeting to see how the team feels like it.
Hello, blogging offered by disroot would be a great initiative. I did a research myself and the only viable option at the moment seems to be "Writefreely". However, the future seems bright as the developers are active, the project is active unlike "Plume". So we have 2 options:
(1) Implement "Writefreely" now and let the developers enhance it's functionality in the future
OR
(2) Wait for "Bonfire" which will eventually introduce blogging with much needed features.
If i am not mistaken, there is an experiment going on for a blogging service in "Bonfire". Here's the link:
