Ideas of tasks:

Ask the community what should be improved on our website, especially to new Disrooters.
Change to low resolution images and low energy design
Change the concept from images of social resistance and political struggles to images portraying human cooperation and mutual support, which is a more positive from of disrooting. Or go for a no picture headers website.
Find a new concept
Implement it this year
Check if there are outdated information.
Decide what to do with translations: some are incomplete, other not maintained

Ask the community what should be improved on our website, especially to new Disrooters.

I wonder if this one is needed and to what degree. I think the idea of the goal is to refresh the website's looks, unify the theme (website and blog for example which are different currently) and improve / update texts on the website. I dont know at this moment what could we ask from the community about it.

Design new page view based on the concept of low resolution / low energy design
Update / improve website theme concept
Agree on change of concept of images of social resistance and political struggles to images portraying human cooperation and mutual support, which is a more positive from of disrooting.
Implement theme changes, image changes to the website and the blog posts.

My idea for community was to ask if they're things they may have noticed we have not. For example they may find an information hard to find whereas we're so used to our website that we find it in no time.

I also think it's time for a change. And agree with both @meaz and @muppeth ideas. Maybe, as @meaz also commented, we're too used to it, which lead us to lose sight of things that can be improved.

This two points are basically the same.

As for the ideas for new visuals I have been experimenting with some images I can share here. I would start by changing the images on the current website to low res ones and the next step would be to look at what other element of the website can be changed. I am happy with the color and resolution reduction. But I find it hard to find CC suitable images for the various concepts I have (I'm using commons.wikimedia ). The examples below are not in anyway fully comprehensive but just to give an idea of the directions I'm exploring.

I'm loving this approach with lower resolution/de-saturated imagery. Antilopa's example made me think, " The content the site clearly should take precedence over the quality of the imagery, which in itself, shouldn't attempt to take all the attention." A change in resolution and saturation can also be a whole other aspect that sets things apart from everyone else. When done well it can help serve the site in very beneficial ways people remember easier.

nontheless it's worth thinking about making the main landing page with quick access to services in mind.
(and mobile view)

about concept: i really like the style of our searx instance giving you super quick access to all services. this is good for establish user. on the downside it provides less information for a first lander. nontheless it's worth thinking about making the main landing page with quick access to services in mind. I would divide this goals into the following issues:

Develop and agree on a new concept (*this can be broken into tasks within the issue or later to separate issues - like the low energy website, content layout, image theme and esthetics etc.)
Implement theme changes, image changes to the website and the blog posts.
Check for outdated information on the website.
Ask the community for feedback on the new look.
Decide what to do with translations: some are incomplete, other not maintained
