As much as we would like to provide unlimited sort of merchandise like bags, hats, shirts, cups, robot assistants, air balloons, we can't do it all in the first run. We should think what type of merchandise we would like to provide on the first campaign. We should definitely remain conservative.
I would start with t-shirt only, with one unique Disroot logo style, so that it is easier to produce. We can then just provide different colors.
even we do pre-order approach, we should limit the amount of available pre-orders as well imo.
why @avg_joe ? Are you afraid we get like 100 000 orders ? :)
And if we should limit, what do you think should be the limit?
Also @muppeth and @antilopa do you think you will do that as you used to do or do you prefer to outsource this?
@meaz
I like the idea/proposal. But I'll also include stickers.
@meaz
yeah, kind of. not 100k, but unexpected number and ya know, then you have to deliver. so why not limit to a scope the aptget team is confident to be able to handle in a reasonable timeframe? i'm sure they have some experience and know how many shirts they can do in a e.g. 2 day sprint.
@meaz I would like to use this opportunity to revive aptgetshirt but it depends on few factors of course. One of which is the workspace, which isnt there yet, but I had an idea to check with our neighbours and use their workshop. The only thing (if they dont mind of course) would be to think of water waste but yeah something to look into still.
As for the scope, shirts, hoddies, canvas bags are very similar to produce (specially if we use the same design but even if not).That said I would go for shirts and canvas bags for start as with hoddies the price might be higher. Another thing is that getting apparel in bulk will also probably dictate the price, so if we offer hoddies as well as shirts it may mean we wont be able to buy enough to get price lower. I think canvas bags are great for those who dont like shirts, so I would stick with those two.
As far as other things go, we could do cups, though this atm (as we cant produce ourself) we could simply outsource.
Perhaps we could also provide prints on the canvas if the design is cool enough for such (maybe as a special price limited edition thing).
what about beanis? what's good about em (i thin) is u can go with not so many sizes
The problem with beanis is that you dont print on them (silkscren) but "embroided" and atm we can't produce. What we could make (but thats just extra like stickers) is patches.
So shirts and canvas bags made by @antilopa and @muppeth and stickers outsourced (like we did last time)?
If we agree on that then I think second think to agree upon is how many different designs and colors we want to produce. Here again I would start very simple: offer one or two different Disroot logos. Also, perhaps only two different colors for tshirt, like one white and one dark (black for example).
i would have thought beetroorish is mist have :)
like beetroot with white print and vice versa
like beetroot with white print and vice versa
that is what I meant by dark color :)
I will go with one design to start it off, see how the production goes the first time. We could add other designs the next time around.
So we go for tshirt with 1 design only to start it off, with beetroot tshirt color with white print and vice versa (so 2 kind of tshirts/colors).
As for canvas bags I guess only one color would be enough.
Is that ok with everyone?
Yeah I think so. Good to start simple I guess as we should focus more on setting up ground works for future campaigns.
I would keep a little spot (possibility) for a special bonus print (whether extra design or canvas print) as a special limited price/perk. But of course it all depends on whether we will be able to pull it (it would have potential to get more funding. For example 100 people in top donation (people who pay extra for shirt to donate as @avg_joe suggested) get special shirt or canvas print or something else.
So are we in agreement to do:
If we have resources to make additional stuff we could consider them at later stage.
I think the scope is clear and so I consider this done.
