Seems like although there is modules to provide authentication using oauthbearer, no clients currently support it. This means we are at the same stage as with the email. Server side we could implement it but there is no point if no clients support it. This means we would need to keep ldap for this and:

Provide toggle for users to switch it on / off
Provide app password for xmpp.
