**Disroot** to projekt z siedzibą w Amsterdamie utrzymywany przez wolontariuszy i zależy od wsparcia społeczności.

||||
Na początku stworzyliśmy **Disroota** aby zaspokoić własne potrzeby. Szukaliśmy oprogramowania którego moglibyśmy używać do komunikacji, dzielenia się i organizacji w naszych własnych kręgach. W większości dostępnych rozwiązań brakowało jednak tego, co uważaliśmy za ważne - nasze narzędzia powinny być **otwarte**, **zdecentralizowane**, **sfederowane** oraz **szanujące wolność** i **prywatność**.
|
||||
|
||||
Szukając takich narzędzi znaleźliśmy wiele ciekawych projektów, projektów które według naszych przekonań powinny być dostępne dla każdego, kto również ceni sobie podobne wartości. Postanowiliśmy więc powiązać ze sobą kilka aplikacji i podzielić się nimi z innymi. Tak właśnie powstał **Disroot**.

|
||||
Poprzez utrzymywanie **Disroota** mamy nadzieję zmienić to, jak ludzie zwykle korzystają z internetu. Chcemy zachęcić ludzi aby **uwolnili się** z powszechnie używanych zamkniętych platform (ang. *Walled Garden*) i przekonali się do otwartych i etycznych alternatyw, na naszej lub innej plaftormie (lub nawet do prowadzenia własnej).
|
||||
|
||||
Razem możemy stworzyć sieć, która jest prawdziwie niezależna, skupionej na przynoszeniu korzyści użytkownikom zamiast na wykorzystywaniu ich.

Większość usług internetowych opiera się na jednym, głównym miejscu będącym własnością korporacji. Przechowywane i analizowane są tam dane ich użytkowników celem utworzenia dokładnych profili. Te informacje są często używane celem wykorzystania użytkowników dla celów reklamodawczych, jak również mogą być pozyskane przez instytucje rządowe lub hackerów o złych zamiarach. Dane mogą być usunięte bez ostrzeżenia z niejasnych powodów lub lokalnych zasad dotyczących cenzury.
|
||||
|
||||
Usługa zdecentralizowana może działać na wielu urządzeniach, posiadanych przez różne osoby, firmy lub organizacje. Za pomocą protokołów federacji wszystkie te instancje mogą ze sobą współpracować i tworzyć jedna sieć składającą się z wielu węzłów (serwerów, na których uruchomione są podobne usługi). Chociaż każdy z takich węzłów z osobna może być wyłączony, to nie wpływa to na całą sieć. Dzięki temu cenzura jest praktycznie niemożliwa.
|
||||
|
||||
W ten sposób działa aktualnie poczta email - możesz skorzystać z usług dowolnego istniejącego dostawcy lub założyć swój własny serwer, a mimo to wciąż możesz wymieniać się emailami z użytkownikami innych serwerów. Email jest oparty o zdecentralizowany i federacyjny protokół.
|
||||
|
||||
Te dwazałożenia, razem, tworzą podstawę ogromnej sieci która opiera się na dość prostej infrastrukturze i relatywnie niskich kosztach. Każde urządzenie może stać się serwerem i stać się członkiem sieci na równych prawach. Od zwykłego domowego komputera, poprzez dedykowany serwer aż po całe szafy wypełnione wieloma serwerami. To podejście pozwala na stworzenie największej globalnej sieci będącej w posiadaniu użytkowników. Dokładnie tak miał wyglądać internet.
|
||||
|
||||
Nie chcemy, aby **Disroot** był jednym centralnym punktem, a jedynie częścią większej społeczności - jednym węzłem z wielu. Mamy nadzieję, że wiele innych osób będzie czerpać inspirację i stworzy więcej projektów o podobnych założeniach.

Kiedy używamy dostarczonych nam aplikacji zwykle nie zauważamy i nie przejmujemy się tym, co dzieje się za używanym przez nas interfejsem. Łączymy się z innymi ludźmi, przechowujemy swoje pliki, organizujemy spotkania i festiwale, wysyłamy emails lub rozmawiamiy z innymi godzinami, a wszystko w jakiś sposób się dzieje.

Przez ostatnie kilka dekad informacje stawały się coraz cenniejsze, i coraz łatwiejsze w zbieraniu i przetwarzaniu. Przyzwyczailiśmy się do bycia analizowanymi, ślepo godząc się na warunki użytkowania "dla naszego dobra", ufając rządom i wielkim korporacjom aby broniły naszych interesów, jednak przez cały czas to my jesteśmy produktem w ich "farmach ludzi".

All your files that are stored on the **Disroot** cloud are encrypted with encryption keys generated from your password. No-one, not even system administrators can see the content of your files. The administrators can only see the file's name, its size and its mime-type (what kind of file it is: video, text, etc).

Disroot's Upload service is a file hosting software, powered by **Lufi**. It temporarily stores files so you can share them with others using a link.

||||
To protect privacy, all the files are encrypted in the browser itself - It means that your files never leave your computer unencrypted. The administrators will not be able to see the content of your file, nor will your network administrator or your ISP. The administrators can only see the file's name, its size and its mimetype (what kind of file it is: video, text, etc).

**Searx** does not keep or create index of the webistes by itself. When you type your query into the search box, **Searx** relays this query to a number of other search engines like Google, DuckDuckGo, Bing, etc., and returns results from those engines back to you in aggregated form.

**Searx** may not offer you as personalized results as Google, but that's because it doesn't generate a profile about you nor it shares any personal details about you, your location, or computer with any of the search engines it relays your queries to.
