If you wish to customize how your chords
|
|
are typed and displayed, then edit this file.
|
|
|
|
The most common customizations can be made just by editing
|
|
the first few pairs of ENTITY declarations below
|
|
(for major, minor, diminished, and half_diminished).
|
|
There is a "display" and a "parse" declaration for each chord type.
|
|
These control what abbreviation or symbol is used for display
|
|
and what you have to type to input that chord type.
|
|
This allows you to easily select between "ma", "maj", the triangle symbol,
|
|
and other popular ways of indicating the word "major", for example.
|
|
|
|
Note that "ma" is a single glyph in the MuseJazz font; the same is true of "mi".
|
|
If you wish to use other abbreviations for major and minor,
|
|
you will need to enter the letters individually in the ENTITY statements.
|
|
That is why those abbreviations are spelled with spaces between each letter
|
|
in the comments accompanying the declarations below.
|
|
Similarly for other abbreviations other than the few included as glyphs in MuseJazz.
|
|
Note that you should not include spaces in the "parse" declarations,
|
|
since you cannot type spaces within a chord symbol even if you wanted to.
|
|
|
|
Normally, aside from the issue of spaces, you would use the same abbreviation
|
|
for both the "display" and "parse" declarations.
|
|
But if you wish to use the triangle for major
|
|
or oslash (circle with a slash through it) for half_diminished,
|
|
then you will need to decide what you would like to type
|
|
in order to produce these symbols,
|
|
and put that in the "parse" declaration.
|
|
|
|
Most symbols are taken from the MuseJazz font where possible,
|
|
but other commonly available fonts are used when necessary.
|
|
You may have fonts you like better than the ones I have chosen
|
|
for the letters used in the abbreviations or for other symbols.
|
|
If you wish to change the fonts used for specific characters,
|
|
then edit the <font> declarations below.
|
|
You can also edit these declarations to make other symbols available.
|
|
|
|
The m:x:y elements in the "display" declarations can be used
|
|
to fine tune the positioning of the symbols.
|
|
Each symbol is preceded and followed by one of these positioning elements,
|
|
allowing you to raise or lower each symbol
|
|
and to increase or decrease the amount of space before and after it.
|
|
Larger values for x add more space; larger values for y lower a symbol.
|
|
If you adjust the vertical position of a symbol
|
|
by editing the m: element in front of it,
|
|
be sure to make the opposite adjustment in the m: element after the symbol.

between a note and its accidental,
