The most noticable change is the DEVD input device autodetection backend
which is enabled by default, replacing the HAL backend. The keyboard

files. The procedure is explained in the post mentionned above.
Several ports were removed with this update, mainly because they are not

o nvidia-driver-96
o xf86-input-egalax
o xf86-video-newport

Since CentOS 6.5 landed in the portstree and was updated to CentOS 6.6 and we've
fixed the remaining issues, it's time to replace Fedora 10 as Linux default --
given that in the past five years it has done its service and has long since
gone EOL upstream.
The CentOS 6 series will go End of Life in 2020, this should give us some time
to keep its annual releases up to date.
If you have not switched to using CentOS 6.6 ports, please refer to today's
UPDATING entry -- it contains detailed instructions.
If you have already switched to CentOS 6.6 userland,
you can now remove the following two lines from make.conf:
OVERRIDE_LINUX_BASE_PORT=c6
OVERRIDE_LINUX_NONBASE_PORTS=c6

19 months have passed since the release of 3.0.0 and there have been 1259
commits from over 24 contributors. Though many of the bugfixes did make it into
the 3.0 branch, not all of them did.
3.1 brings many speedups, new features and commands, a new web interface, and
build hooks. The new web interface works at a top-level, jail-level and the
build-level still by using a static site with AJAX.
There is a queue system that is not quite ready yet but should make it into
3.2.

first contains runtime libraries such as libintl and the latter contains
developer tools such as msgfmt. Ports that use gettext will usually need
a LIB_DEPENDS on gettext-runtime and a BUILD_DEPENDS on gettext-tools.
USES=gettext-runtime can be used to set a LIB/BUILD/RUN_DEPENDS on
devel/gettext-runtime and USES=gettext-tools can be used to set a
BUILD/RUN_DEPENDS on devel/gettext-tools. USES=gettext is now the same
as "USES=gettext-runtime gettext-tools" meaning a LIB_DEPENDS on
devel/gettext-runtime and a BUILD_DEPENDS on devel/gettext-tools.
Update gettext to 0.19.3.
Remove :oldver from converters/libiconv and devel/gettext-runtime. Leave
symlinks with the old library versions to avoid the need to bump
PORTREVISION on a large number of dependent ports. When most of the
dependent ports have had normal version updates, PORTREVISION can be
bumped on the remaining ones (low number) and the links can be removed.

perl_man3 : lib/perl5/site_perl/man/man3
Modules without any .so will be installed at the same place regardless of the

It uses a version dependent directory for modules with compiled bits.
As PERL_ARCH is no longer needed in plists, it has been removed from

Gnome 3.14.1 and Cinnamon 2.2.16 are supported on FreeBSD 9.3-RELEASE and up.
This commit removes the old GNOME 2 desktop, bindings and some ports that
can't be compiled. A few ports where updated to more recent versions to
allow them to compile with this update.
Apart from updating ports to newer versions
GDM is more integrated with gnome-shell now, and handles several things for
the GNOME desktop such as screen locking. If you want to use GNOME 3 via
startx, you will have to add your own lock screen/screensaver. For example xscreensaver
can be used for sessions started without GDM.
Shell Extensions can be installed via https://extensions.gnome.org/ , we have
ported a few that can't be installed via this way.
The old gnome-utils and gnome-games ports where split up into single ports
and where converted to meta-ports.
gnome-terminal requires a UTF-8 locale to run, gdm handles this already, but
if you use startx you need to do this yourself.
Upgrade instructions:
Delete the old and conflicting packages:
# pkg delete clutter gnome-utils gnome-panel gnome-keyring vala-vapigen \
guile gcalctool gnome-media libgnomekbd
# pkg delete gnome-screensaver gnome-applets bug-buddy evolution-exchange \
evolution-webcal gnome-system-tools seahorse-plugins gnome-control-center
For package users the following lines will be enough:
# pkg upgrade
# pkg install gnome3
For ports users should do the following:
# portmaster -a
# portmaster x11/gnome3
We are currently aware of two issues. The first issue is a bug in the
file monitoring code in the glib20 port. This bug causes glib programs
to crash when files in a monitored directory are added or removed.
Upstream is aware of the problem, but since the problem is quite complex
there is no solution yet. This problem isn't restricted to BSD.
The second issue is that on certain video cards totem will display a
purple/pink overlay on the video. It not clear yet where the issues
comes from.
Major thanks goes to Gustau Perez for being a driving force behind getting
GNOME 3 up to speed again. Also thanks to Antoine Brodin for running the exp-runs.

Also tidy up a few items in the port recommended by josh4trunks.
This includes improving rc script to minimise customisation (maximise
use of rc.subr), moving the storage of the MediaBrowser database files
to /var/db/mediabrowser and adding some more comments for users.
Add an entry to UPDATING explaining the database directory move from
/usr/local/mediabrowser to /var/db/mediabrowser.
The default MediaBrowser database/configuration/logs/media metadata
storage directory has moved from /usr/local/mediabrowser to
/var/db/mediabrowser. Users are advised either to move the contents of
the old directory to the new location, or to add a mediabrowser_data_dir
entry to /etc/rc.conf.

/usr/local/var/games instead of /var/games. This was necessary
because @sample cannot operate outside of %%PREFIX%%, and
previously the port would overwrite or remove previously
saved games. This is easier, better and more hier(7)ful.
- Adjust ports that depended on linphone-base to depend on net/ortp or
net/mediastreamer instead
- Mark net-im/libjingle deprecated (part of Google Talk)

to separate ports. These ports are:
www/mod_dav_svn
instead of option MOD_DAV_SVN.
security/subversion-gnome-keyring
instead of option GNOME_KEYRING.
security/subversion-kwallet
instead of option KDE_KWALLET.
If you used devel/subversion with one (or more) of these non-standard
options, you should install appropriate port after subversion upgrade.
"mod_dontdothat" is installed unconditionally by www/mod_dav_svn
port (it has been depended on TOOLS option), but is not activated by
default, you may need to edit apache's configuration file.
devel/subversion port now installs svndiff, svndiff3 and svndiff4
commands if TOOLS option is enabled. They was skipped before.
Official names "diff", "diff3" and "diff4" are prefixed with "svn" to
avoid conflicts with base and other diff versions.
All libraries and binaries are now stripped if MAINTAINER_DEBUG
option is not selected (including all sub-ports, like bindings
and mod_dav_svn).

NEW XORG ON FREEBSD 9-STABLE AND 10-STABLE
This update switches over to use the new xorg stack by default on FreeBSD 9
and 10 stable, on osversions where vt(9) is available.
It is still possible to use the old stack by specifying WITHOUT_NEW_XORG in
/etc/make.conf .
FreeBSD 8-STABLE and released versions of FreeBSD still use
the old version.
A package repository with binary packages for new xorg will
be available soon.
This patch also contains updates of libxcb and related ports, pixman, as well
as some drivers and utilities.
Bump portrevisions for xf86-* ports, as well as virtualbox-ose-additions due
to xserver version change.
Apart from these updates, the way shared libraries are handled has been
changed for all xorg ports, as well as libxml2 and freetype, which means
ltverhack is gone and as a consequence shared libraries have been bumped.
The plan is that this change will make library bumps less likely in the
future.
All affected ports have had their portrevisions bumped as a consequence of
this.
Fix some issues where WITH_NEW_XORG weren't detected properly on CURRENT.
Update instructions, hardware support, and more notes can be found on
