A contemporary Humanist sans serif font that fully support the following
writing systems: Basic Latin, Western European, Catalan, Baltic, Turkish,
Central European, Dutch and Afrikaans.
now it's same as what Linux has and fontconfig's default configuration. There
are a few of ports have fonts installed in share/fonts/ and they don't realized
about that those fonts don't work at all. Also, reduce add hack in each font
ports if they want to install in share/fonts/ by default.
Note: with this release, it would be possible to get the source tarball
and build the fonts, with fontforge as a BUILD_DEPENDENCY; is there an
interest for this?

ports. All of them are End of Life (no security updates) since a loooong time.
As they are not the default, I decided to go with a short expiration date (one
month). The maintainer of the few ports which depend upon the f8 infrastructure
is informed to take action (update to the default f10 infrastructure, or to
deprecate).
The X-Server has been patched to the latest 1.7.X series, drivers
and fonts have been updated to the latest versions. This update includes
some components from Xorg 7.6 with a lot of improvements, and it seems
that the performance is much better than the old version. Also this
Update fix build issues with clang and binutils 2.17.50 in current,
remove 6.X gruft and de-author pkg-descr.

Changes:
- Add support for SVG output (works correctly only for single page output)
and Proggy Tiny) are a set of fixed-width screen fonts that are designed
for code listings. Each font only comes in one size that it looks good at.
The fonts were optimized while coding in C or C++. For this reason,
characters like the '*' were placed vertically centered, as '*' usually
means dereference or multiply, but never 'to the power of' like in Fortran.
The {}s are centered horizontally (as the author's coding style aligns
braces vertically), the zero looks different from the capital oh, and there
is never any confusion between ells, ones, and eyes. Additionally, the
arithmetic operators (+ - * < >) are all axis aligned.

PingWi Typography (PWT) font package contains PWT Tahion, PWT Arion,

Officially, this is mostly a polishing release in preparation for GNOME 3.0
due in about a year.
On the FreeBSD front, though, a lot went into this release. Major thanks
goes to kwm and avl who did a lot of the porting work for this release.
In particular, kwm brought in Evolution MAPI support for better Microsoft
Exchange integration. Avl made sure that the new gobject introspection
repository ports were nicely compartmentalized so that large dependencies
aren't brought in wholesale.
But, every GNOME team member (ahze, avl, bland, kwm, mezz, and myself)
contributed to this release.
Other major improvements include an updated HAL with better volume
probing code, ufsid integration, and support for volume names containing
spaces (big thanks to J.R. Oldroyd); a new WebKit; updated AbiWord;
an updated Gimp; and a preview of the new GNOME Shell project (thanks to
Pawel Worach).

The recommended version of FreeBSD to use them is 8-CURRENT.
FreeBSD-7.x is not fully compatible with compat.linux.osrelease
2.6.16. Some syscalls cannot be MFCed due to native FreeBSD
ABI breakage.
Usage (and package building):
1. define compat.linux.osrelease=2.6.16;
2. add following variables to /etc/make.conf:
. OVERRIDE_LINUX_BASE_PORT=f8;
. OVERRIDE_LINUX_NONBASE_PORTS=f8.
