It is based on previous POEx work such as POEx::Role::TCPServer which provides basic TCP socket multiplexing via POE::Wheel::SocketFactory and POE::Wheel::ReadWrite, and POEx::Role::SessionInstantiation which transforms plain Moose objects into POE sessions.
