Note: since 0.17.0, OpenVRML is placed under the terms of version 3 of the LGPL and GPL licenses. The breakdown of how these licenses are applied to the different parts of OpenVRML does not change: libopenvrml and libopenvrml-gl remains available under the LGPL, while openvrml-xembed, openvrml-player, the Mozilla plug-in, and the example programs remain available under the GPL. OpenVRML is a free cross-platform runtime for VRML and X3D available under the

GNU Lesser General Public License. The OpenVRML distribution includes libraries
