Revert the changes made by commit fdffbafb [Lots of FPU bug fixes from
Kjeld Borch Egevang.] to `ieee754sp_nanxcpt' and `ieee754dp_nanxcpt'
sNaN quieting handlers and their callers so that sNaN processing is done
within the handlers againg. Pass the sNaN causing an IEEE 754 invalid
operation exception down to the relevant handler. Pass the sNaN in `fs'
where two sNaNs are supplied to a binary operation.
Set the Invalid Operation FCSR exception bits in the quieting handlers
rather than at their call sites throughout. Make the handlers exclusive
for sNaN processing.

Don't call the `ieee754sp_nanxcpt' and `ieee754dp_nanxcpt' sNaN quieting
handlers for a qNaN supplied to floating-point format conversions or
SQRT.S/SQRT.D instructions, or for a qNaN produced out of a negative
operand supplied to SQRT.S/SQRT.D instructions. Return the qNaN right
away in these cases.

Commit fdffbafb [Lots of FPU bug fixes from Kjeld Borch Egevang.]
replaced the two single `ieee754sp_nanxcpt' and `ieee754dp_nanxcpt'
places, where sNaN quieting used to happen for single and double
floating-point operations respectively, with individual qNaN
instantiations across all the call sites instead. It also made most of
these two functions dead code as where called on a qNaN they return
right away.
To revert the damage and make sNaN quieting uniform again first rewrite
`ieee754sp_nanxcpt' and `ieee754dp_nanxcpt' to do the same quieting all
the call sites do, that is return the default qNaN encoding for all
input sNaN values; never propagate any sNaN payload bits from its
trailing significand field.

Hybrid FPRs is a scheme where scalar FP registers are 64b wide, but
accesses to odd indexed single registers use bits 63:32 of the
preceeding even indexed 64b register. In this mode all FP code
except that built for the plain FP64 ABI can execute correctly. Most
notably a combination of FP64A & FP32 code can execute correctly,
allowing for existing FP32 binaries to be linked with new FP64A binaries
that can make use of 64 bit FP & MSA.
Hybrid FPRs are implemented by setting both the FR & FRE bits, trapping
& emulating single precision FP instructions (via Reserved Instruction
exceptions) whilst allowing others to execute natively. It therefore has
a penalty in terms of execution speed, and should only be used when no
fully native mode can be. As more binaries are recompiled to use either
the FPXX or FP64(A) ABIs, the need for hybrid FPRs should diminish.
However in the short to mid term it allows for a gradual transition
towards that world, rather than a complete ABI break which is not
feasible for some users & not desirable for many.
A task will be executed using the hybrid FPR scheme when its
TIF_HYBRID_FPREGS flag is set & TIF_32BIT_FPREGS is clear. A further
patch will set the flags as necessary, this patch simply adds the
infrastructure necessary for the hybrid FPR mode to work.

Starting with version 2.24.51.20140728 MIPS binutils complain loudly
about mixing soft-float and hard-float object files, leading to this
build failure since GCC is invoked with "-msoft-float" on MIPS:
{standard input}: Warning: .gnu_attribute 4,3 requires `softfloat'
LD arch/mips/alchemy/common/built-in.o
mipsel-softfloat-linux-gnu-ld: Warning: arch/mips/alchemy/common/built-in.o
uses -msoft-float (set by arch/mips/alchemy/common/prom.o),
arch/mips/alchemy/common/sleeper.o uses -mhard-float
To fix this, we detect if GAS is new enough to support "-msoft-float" command
option, and if it does, we can let GCC pass it to GAS; but then we also need
to sprinkle the files which make use of floating point registers with the
necessary ".set hardfloat" directives.

Commit bbd426f542 "MIPS: Simplify FP context access" modified the
SIFROMREG & SIFROMHREG macros such that they return unsigned rather
than signed 32b integers. I had believed that to be fine, but
inadvertently missed the MFC1 & MFHC1 cases which write to a struct
pt_regs regs element. On MIPS32 this is fine, but on 64 bit those
saved regs' fields are 64 bit wide. Using unsigned values caused the
32 bit value from the FP register to be zero rather than sign extended
as the architecture specifies, causing incorrect emulation of the
MFC1 & MFHc1 instructions. Fix by reintroducing the casts to signed
integers, and therefore the sign extension.

mm_isBranchInstr() did reside in the math emu code even though it logically
is separate and also is used outside the math emu code. In addition GCC 4.9.0
leaves the following unnnecessarily bloated function body for a non-microMIPS
configuration:
<mm_isBranchInstr>:
105c: afa50004 sw a1,4(sp)
1060: afa60008 sw a2,8(sp)
1064: afa7000c sw a3,12(sp)
1068: 03e00008 jr ra
106c: 00001021 move v0,zero
which stores arguments that are never going to be used on the stack frame.
Move mm_isBranchInstr() from cp1emu.c to branch.c, then split mm_isBranchInstr()
into a __mm_isBranchInstr() core and a mm_isBranchInstr() wrapper inline function
which only invokes __mm_isBranchInstr() on microMIPS configurations.

The upper bits of an FP register are architecturally defined as
unpredictable following an instructions which only writes the lower
bits. The prior behaviour of the kernel is to leave them unmodified.
This patch modifies that to clear the upper bits to zero. This is what
the MSA architecture reference manual specifies should happen for its
wider registers and is still permissible for scalar FP instructions
given the bits unpredictability there.

CPUs implementing MIPS32 R2 may include a 64-bit FPU, just as MIPS64 CPUs
do. In order to preserve backwards compatibility a 64-bit FPU will act
like a 32-bit FPU (by accessing doubles from the least significant 32
bits of an even-odd pair of FP registers) when the Status.FR bit is
zero, again just like a mips64 CPU. The standard O32 ABI is defined
expecting a 32-bit FPU, however recent toolchains support use of a
64-bit FPU from an O32 MIPS32 executable. When an ELF executable is
built to use a 64-bit FPU a new flag (EF_MIPS_FP64) is set in the ELF
header.
With this patch the kernel will check the EF_MIPS_FP64 flag when
executing an O32 binary, and set Status.FR accordingly. The addition
of O32 64-bit FP support lessens the opportunity for optimisation in
the FPU emulator, so a CONFIG_MIPS_O32_FP64_SUPPORT Kconfig option is
introduced to allow this support to be disabled for those that don't
require it.

This patch refactors MIPS branch emulation code so as to allow skipping
delay slot instruction in case of branch likely instructions when branch is
not taken. This is useful for keeping the code common for use cases like
kprobes where one would like to handle the branch instructions keeping the
delay slot instuction also in picture for branch likely instructions. Also
allow emulation when instruction to be decoded is not at pt_regs->cp0_epc
as in case of kprobes where pt_regs->cp0_epc points to the breakpoint
instruction.
The patch also exports the function for modules.

The nmi parameter indicated if we could do wakeups from the current
context, if not, we would set some state and self-IPI and let the
resulting interrupt do the wakeup.
For the various event classes:
- hardware: nmi=0; PMI is in fact an NMI or we run irq_work_run from
the PMI-tail (ARM etc.)
- tracepoint: nmi=0; since tracepoint could be from NMI context.
- software: nmi=[0,1]; some, like the schedule thing cannot
perform wakeups, and hence need 0.
As one can see, there is very little nmi=1 usage, and the down-side of
not using it is that on some platforms some software events can have a
jiffy delay in wakeup (when arch_irq_work_raise isn't implemented).
The up-side however is that we can remove the nmi parameter and save a
bunch of conditionals in fast paths.

In the case of arch/mips/math-emu/ieee754int.h, the COMPXSP and

Adding subdirs-ccflags-y := -Werror to arch/mips/Kbuild
let us in one go cover all files with -Werror.
In addition this allows us to remove the
individual -Werror definition in various Makefile.
Adding the definition to Kbuild as a recursive
option help us not to forget to do so.
With this change we now compile arch/mips/kernel/cpufreq with -Werror
One drawback:
When specifying a subdirectory covered by the Kbuild file like this:
make arch/mips/kernel/
then kbuild fails to pick up the -Werror definition.

In the FPU emulator code of the MIPS, the Cause bits of the FCSR register
are not currently writeable by the ctc1 instruction. In odd corner cases,
this can cause problems. For example, a case existed where a divide-by-zero
exception was generated by the FPU, and the signal handler attempted to
restore the FPU registers to their state before the exception occurred. In
this particular setup, writing the old value to the FCSR register would
cause another divide-by-zero exception to occur immediately. The solution
is to change the ctc1 instruction emulator code to allow the Cause bits of
the FCSR register to be writeable. This is the behaviour of the hardware
that the code is emulating.
This problem was found by Shane McDonald, but the credit for the fix goes
to Kevin Kissell. In Kevin's words:
I submit that the bug is indeed in that ctc_op: case of the emulator. The
Cause bits (17:12) are supposed to be writable by that instruction, but the
CTC1 emulation won't let them be updated by the instruction. I think that
actually if you just completely removed lines 387-388 [...] things would
work a good deal better. At least, it would be a more accurate emulation of
the architecturally defined FPU. If I wanted to be really, really pedantic
(which I sometimes do), I'd also protect the reserved bits that aren't
necessarily writable.

On SMP systems, the collection of statistics can cause cache line
bouncing in the lines associated with the counters. Also there are
races incrementing the counters on multiple CPUs.
To fix both problems, we collect the statistics in per-CPU variables,
and add them up in the debugfs read operation.
As a test I ran the LTP float_bessel test on a 12 CPU Octeon system.
Without CONFIG_DEBUG_FS : 2602 seconds.
With CONFIG_DEBUG_FS: 2640 seconds.
With non-cpu-local atomic statistics: 14569 seconds.

Running a 64-bit kernel on a 64-bit CPU without an FPU would cause the
emulator to run in 32-bit mode. The c0_Status.FR bit is wired to zero
on systems without an FPU, so using that bit to decide how the emulator
behaves doesn't allow for proper emulation on 64-bit FPU-less
processors.
Instead, we need to select the emulator mode based on the user-space
ABI. Since the thread flag TIF_32BIT_REGS is used to set c0_Status.FR,
we can just use it to decide if the emulator should be in 32-bit or
64-bit mode.

Initial git repository build. I'm not bothering with the full history,
even though we have it. We can create a separate "historical" git
archive of that later if we want to, and in the meantime it's about
3.2GB when imported into git - space that would just make the early
git days unnecessarily complicated, when we don't have a lot of good
infrastructure for it.
Let it rip!
