Changes in version 0.2.2.6-alpha - 2009-11-19
o Major features:
- Directory authorities can now create, vote on, and serve multiple
parallel formats of directory data as part of their voting process.
Partially implements Proposal 162: "Publish the consensus in
multiple flavors".
- Directory authorities can now agree on and publish small summaries
of router information that clients can use in place of regular
server descriptors. This transition will eventually allow clients
to use far less bandwidth for downloading information about the
network. Begins the implementation of Proposal 158: "Clients
download consensus + microdescriptors".
- The directory voting system is now extensible to use multiple hash
algorithms for signatures and resource selection. Newer formats
are signed with SHA256, with a possibility for moving to a better
hash algorithm in the future.
- New DisableAllSwap option. If set to 1, Tor will attempt to lock all
current and future memory pages via mlockall(). On supported
platforms (modern Linux and probably BSD but not Windows or OS X),
this should effectively disable any and all attempts to page out
memory. This option requires that you start your Tor as root --
if you use DisableAllSwap, please consider using the User option
to properly reduce the privileges of your Tor.
- Numerous changes, bugfixes, and workarounds from Nathan Freitas
to help Tor build correctly for Android phones.
o Major bugfixes:
- Work around a security feature in OpenSSL 0.9.8l that prevents our
handshake from working unless we explicitly tell OpenSSL that we
are using SSL renegotiation safely. We are, but OpenSSL 0.9.8l
won't work unless we say we are.
o Minor bugfixes:
- Fix a crash bug when trying to initialize the evdns module in
Libevent 2. Bugfix on 0.2.1.16-rc.
- Stop logging at severity 'warn' when some other Tor client tries
to establish a circuit with us using weak DH keys. It's a protocol
violation, but that doesn't mean ordinary users need to hear about
it. Fixes the bug part of bug 1114. Bugfix on 0.1.0.13.
- Do not refuse to learn about authority certs and v2 networkstatus
documents that are older than the latest consensus. This bug might
have degraded client bootstrapping. Bugfix on 0.2.0.10-alpha.
Spotted and fixed by xmux.
- Fix numerous small code-flaws found by Coverity Scan Rung 3.
- If all authorities restart at once right before a consensus vote,
nobody will vote about "Running", and clients will get a consensus
with no usable relays. Instead, authorities refuse to build a
consensus if this happens. Bugfix on 0.2.0.10-alpha; fixes bug 1066.
- If your relay can't keep up with the number of incoming create
cells, it would log one warning per failure into your logs. Limit
warnings to 1 per minute. Bugfix on 0.0.2pre10; fixes bug 1042.
- Bridges now use "reject *:*" as their default exit policy. Bugfix
on 0.2.0.3-alpha; fixes bug 1113.
- Fix a memory leak on directory authorities during voting that was
introduced in 0.2.2.1-alpha. Found via valgrind.
New in 0.14
- Added color options to the chat window.
- Can now specify a reason for kick/ban in groupchat.
- Improved User Info window, to show more fields and photo view/save.
- Support for Enchant as an alternative to Aspell.
- Commandline interface now supports choosing profile and setting status.
- D-BUS interface now supports setting status and indicating sleep/wake.
- Fixed voice calling compatibility bugs with Pidgin and Empathy.
- Various other minor improvements and bugfixes.
ISC's libbind provides the standard resolver library,
along with header files and documentation, for communicating
with domain name servers, retrieving network host entries
from /etc/hosts or via DNS, converting CIDR network addresses,
perform Hesiod information lookups, retrieve network entries
from /etc/networks, implement TSIG transaction/request
security of DNS messages, perform name-to-address and
address-to-name translations, utilize /etc/resolv.conf
for resolver configuration.
It contains many of the same historical functions and headers
included with many Unix operating systems.
Originally written for BIND 8, it was included in BIND 9 as
optionally-compiled code through release 9.5. It has been
removed from subsequent releases of BIND 9 and is now
provided as a separate package.
o Zone file reading support added (Dnsruby::ZoneReader)
o Name and Label speed-ups
o CodeMapper speed-ups
o DHCID RR added
o LOC presentation format parsing fixed
o KX RR added

o Fix for DS record comparison
o HIP RR added
o Minor bug fixes
o IPSECKEY RR added
o Clients can now manipulate Name::Labels
cryptoIDlib is a python library and command-line tools for working with cryptoID
certificate chains. Among other things, it provides client and server
implementations of the cryptoID key management protocols.
cryptoIDlib's sister library is TLS Lite. TLS Lite is necessary if you want to
use the key management protocols. Also, if you have TLS Lite and cryptoIDlib,
you can use cryptoIDs to authenticate in TLS.
SPADE (Smart Python multi-Agent Development Environment) is a Multiagent and
Organizations Platform based on the XMPP/Jabber technology and written in the
Python programming language. This technology offers by itself many features and
facilities that ease the construction of MAS, such as an existing communication
channel, the concepts of users (agents) and servers (platforms) and an
extensible communication protocol based on XML, just like FIPA-ACL. Many other
agent platforms exist, but SPADE is the first to base its roots on
the XMPP technology
KIPI (KDE Image Plugin Interface) is an effort to develop a common
plugin structure for Digikam, KPhotoAlbum, Showimg and GwenView.
Its aim is to share image plugins among graphic applications. Kipi
is based on the old digiKam plugins implementation.
One of the nicest things about KDE Photo Management Programs like
"digiKam", "KPhotoAlbum", "GwenView" and "ShowImg" is how easily
its functionality can be extended, by using plugins. Plugins can
manipulate image files in almost any way that users can. Their
advantage is that it is much easier to add a capability to the host
application by writing a small plugin than by modifying the host
application core. Many valuable plugins have C++ source code that
only comes to 100-200 lines or so.
Kipi plugins are additional functions for the KDE Images Managment
Host Programs. They can add extra menus and shortcuts, and extend
the host programs features. You can install as many or as few as
you like, from within host programs.
Completely removing the architecture dependancy path being more work than
patching `uname -m` calls, I did it that way.
Thanks to all who provided insight on this.

have not changed, for extremely large speedups in some cases. For very
flat collection trees, the difference is basically between a small
incremental scan and a near full rescan.
* Ask the user for confirmation before refetching lyrics and overwriting
cached ones.
* It is now possible to stop editing lyrics without saving changes in
the lyrics applet.

LibMicro is a portable set of microbenchmarks that many Solaris engineers
used during Solaris 10 development to measure the performance of various

This package does not contain anything by itself - it is a "meta-package" that
depends on other aspell packages. Its sole purpose is to require dependencies so
users can install this package only and have all the ispell stuff (or what is
set in PKG_OPTIONS.ispell-dictionaries) pulled in by the package dependency
mechanism.
This package is different from the other packages in pkgsrc/meta-pkgs. It's
possible to build everything by default, as the meta-pkgs currently function, or
PKG_OPTIONS.ispell-dictionaries can be set to pull in only certain dictionaries.
This is meant to save an admin time by just cd'ing to
pkgsrc/wip/ispell-dictionaries, running `bmake; bmake install' and going away to
do other important things like eating, drinking, and other forms of hedonism.
Currently, with meta-pkgs, it's all or nothing. Utilizing the options.mk
framework which exists in pkgsrc, it's not necessary to install any other
packages or write and maintain any additional configuration files to accomplish
this task, and at the same time not having to monitor and execute the build of
all the package required. This package also makes use of ispell dictionary in
pkgsrc-wip.
