X11_TYPE is a user-settable variable that can take the values:

native		use the native, non-pkgsrc-managed X11R6
	XFree86		use x11/XFree86-libs (not yet implemented)
	xlibs		use freedesktop.org xlibs (not yet implemented)

It is used to set the X11 implementation used to build X11 packages.
