Here is change from HISTORY.
0.71 2001/05/18
* VERSIONing glitches on Jcode::Constants fixed
(Tatsuhiko Miyagawa <miyagawa@edge.co.jp>)
* _mkbuf is gone!
-> Jcode::Constants is now sub free!
* all *.pm passes podchecker(1) now
post the patch.
- Fixed jmakeindex build and installation problem.
- Since mendexk does not handle JIS, changed default character encoding of
ptex from JIS to EUC (EUC-JP). EUC-cofigured ptex can handle JIS as well
as EUC, and vice versa. (note: jmakeindex handles JIS.)
This package was made by Kazuki Sakamoto and posted to tech-pkg-ja mailing
list a year ago, updated to latest version by me. Thanks should go to the
mailing list members who tested and gave useful comments on it.
XXX fresh-making this package from source fails because of this package needs
patch and rebuild print/teTeX-bin package though it does not conflict. I'll
fix this later.
From pkg/DESCR:

This package is a machine-independent part.
first component is now a package name+version/pattern, no more
executable/patchname/whatnot.
While there, introduce BUILD_USES_MSGFMT as shorthand to pull in
devel/gettext unless /usr/bin/msgfmt exists (i.e. on post-1.5 -current).

Beware that only invocations are changed that don't set special
values for owner, mode or group!
Cleanup suggested by zuntum@IRC
environment as processing language. Because of lack of locale suppor,
perl may not accept locale related environment. So, user could use
only "LANGUAGE" environment.
Add warning for this setting of envionment problem.
Convert most MESSAGE files to new syntax (${VARIABLE} gets replaced,
not @VARIABLE@, nor @@VARIABLE@@).
By default, substitutions are done for LOCALBASE, PKGNAME, PREFIX,
X11BASE, X11PREFIX; additional patterns can be added via MESSAGE_SUBST.
Clean up some packages while I'm there; add RCS tags to most MESSAGEs.
Remove some uninteresting MESSAGEs.
Since index file format has change from 1.3.0.11, separately import
instead of updating current namazu package.
To do: creating package without Japanese support?

This scheme was chosen under the assumption that "3.03" is a patch version
number that changes as mh is updated; therefore, "6.8.4" is less important
to follow for a version number here than "3.03".
Many changes were made since version 2.02, and some are described
by http://chasen.aist-nara.ac.jp/chasen/NEWS (in Japanese).
Because of different copyright, chasen distribution was separated
into different files: chasen and its dictionary.
This is meta package contains chasen-base and ipadic.

v1.3.0.11
[2000-01-26]
* Fix a security hole in CGI mode which allows malicious person to
put a garbage file on a Web server's directory such as /tmp.
- [Motoyuki Kasahara <m-kasahr@sra.co.jp>] - report
* Fix configure --without-japanese bug.
- [Keisuke Nishida <kxn30@po.cwru.edu>] - patch
* Fix zero size NMZ.{head, foot} handling bug.
- [Kazunori NISHI <kazunori@swlab.csce.kyushu-u.ac.jp>] - patch
out of date - it was based on a.out OBJECT_FMT, and added entries in the
generated PLISTs to reflect the symlinks that ELF packages uses. It also
tried to be clever, and removed and recreated any symbolic links that were
created, which has resulted in some fun, especially with packages which
use dlopen(3) to load modules. Some recent changes to our ld.so to bring
it more into line with other Operating Systems also exposed some cracks.
+ Modify bsd.pkg.mk and its shared object handling, so that PLISTs now contain
the ELF symlinks.
+ Don't mess about with file system entries when handling shared objects in
bsd.pkg.mk, since it's likely that libtool and the BSD *.mk processing will
have got it right, and have a much better idea than we do.
+ Modify PLISTs to contain "ELF symlinks"
+ On a.out platforms, delete any "ELF symlinks" from the generated PLISTs
+ On ELF platforms, no extra processing needs to be done in bsd.pkg.mk
+ Modify print-PLIST target in bsd.pkg.mk to add dummy symlink entries on
a.out platforms
+ Update the documentation in Packages.txt
With many thanks to Thomas Klausner for keeping me honest with this.
Text::Kakasi - Kakasi library module for perl.

filter to convert Kanji characters to Hiragana, Katakana or
Roman alphabetic Japanese, from perl.
