Sqsh (pronounced skwish) is short for SQshelL (pronounced s-q-shell), it
is intended as a replacement for the venerable 'isql' program supplied
by Sybase. It came about due to years of frustration of trying to do
real work with a program that was never meant to perform real work.
Sqsh is much more than a nice prompt, it is intended to provide much of
the functionality provided by a good shell, such as variables,
redirection, pipes, back-grounding, job control, history, command
completion, and dynamic configuration. Also, as a by-product of the
design, it is remarkably easy to extend and add functionality.
This package enables motif support.
VideoLAN is a project of French students from the Ecole
Centrale Paris and developers from all over the world. Its main
goals is MPEG streaming on a network, but it also features a
standalone multimedia player. The VideoLAN Server can stream
video read from a hard disk, a DVD player, a satellite card or
an MPEG 2 compression card, and unicast or multicast it on a
network. The VideoLAN Client can read the stream from the
network and display it. It can also be used to display video
read locally on the computer : DVDs, VCDs, MPEG and DivX files
and from a satellite card. It is multi-plaform : Linux,
Windows, Mac OS X, BeOS, BSD, Solaris, QNX, iPaq... The
VideoLAN Client and Server now have a full IPv6 support.
sybperl includes four modules: Sybase::DBlib, Sybase::CTlib,
Sybase::BCP and Sybase::Sybperl. The first two implement a thin
wrapper around the Sybase DB-Library and Client Library APIs,
respectively. Sybase::BCP is a specialty module aimed at doing
Bulk-Copy operations, and Sybase::Sybperl is a compatibility module
with sybperl 1.xx (i.e. with the perl 4.x version).
The sybperl modules are thin wrappers around the Sybase APIs. This is
both good and bad. It's good because you have greater control, and
because the API is (obviously) close to the way the server and the
protocol work. It's bad in that it's a proprietary API, and that it is
somewhat verbose.

include:
* Better error-handling.
* Support for Courier-IMAP authdaemond for plaintext password verification.
* Fixed resource leaks and buffer overruns.
pkgsrc changes include:
* SASL_DBTYPE is either "ndbm" or "berkeley" and sets the db format of the
sasldb authentication database, defaulting to ndbm.
* SASLSOCKETDIR is the location of the saslauthd socket directory.
* AUTHDAEMONVAR is the localt of the authdaemond socket directory.
* SASL_ENTROPY_SOURCE is a file of random bytes used as a PRNG.
This closes PR 24649 and PR 24694.
pkg related changes: honour PKG_SYSCONFDIR for sqshrc.
Major changes since 1.7:
* New build system/directory structure. Should build against ASE
12.0 and FreeTDS now.
* Added support for varchar2() and varbinary2() for ASE 12.5 (I
don't have a 12.5 instance to test against yet though).
* Added \if command to perform conditional execution. Please read
the manual carefully on how expressions work.
* Added \while command to perform basic looping conditional
expressions.
* Added \break command to break out of current loop
* Added \for command to perform basic iteration.
* Added \do command to allow the exection of a sqsh script block
once per row returned from statement. Also new #[0-9] variables
may be used to refer to column names in result set. Also note
that \do allows flags -U, -S, -P for execution of statements on
other server or as other users.
* Added \func command to create a sqsh function for later
execution. Also, now ${[0-9]} now refer to the parameters to
this function when it is called. Note that by passing -x to
\func, the function will be exported as a full sqsh command, and
can be called directly without calling \call.
* Added \return to return from current function.
* Obviously, added \call to call sqsh function.
* New variable $? contains: - Return status of command executed on
pipe '|' - Return status of expression evaluated for \while or
\if. - Last server error number of severity > 10 (@@error). This
is useful for flow-of-control using the new conditional
statements.
* Added a directory of handy filter scripts.
* Fixed \rpc command with @variable names.
* \exit now exits sqsh, no matter how many \loop nesting levels
you are in.
* The user will now be re-prompted to enter a password if a "Login
failed." message is received from the server. This may be
disabled using the new $password_retry variable.
* Got rid of error message about ct_exit() not being called.
* Created new 'make distrib' option to build a self-contained sqsh
binary distribution.
* $rcfile and $SQSHRC may now be colon delimited lists of sqshrc
files. This allows for system-wide rc files to be loaded first
before local files. Also, the default $SQSHRC setting is now
"/usr/local/etc/sqshrc:$HOME/.sqshrc" (the /usr/local will be
automatically replaced by the contents of --prefix when passed
to configure).
* Fixed -C.
* $SQSHRC no longer needs to be writable.
* sqsh no longer pays attention to quotes inside of comments
during variable expansion.
* Fixed bcp'ing of results from stored procedures.
* libsybtcl will now be chosen if available.
* 'exact' mode keyword expansion should now work better (thanks to
Sean Woolcock.
* Added $bcp_colsep and $bcp_rowsep configuration variables to
control the separators used during "go -m bcp".
* Added $bcp_trim to configure whether or not trailing spaces are
trimmed in the bcp output.
* Fixed segfault in "pretty" display mode.

The patches for 23017 and 24578 were provided by reed@. Although rh@
suspended PR 23017 saying that pkgsrc does not support installation to
/usr, this still needs to be fixed because the same problem occurs
even when LOCALBASE != /usr.

Changes since version 8.12.10:
Use QueueFileMode when opening qf files. This error was a
regression in 8.12.10. Problem detected and diagnosed
Lech Szychowski of the Polish Power Grid Company.
Properly count the number of queue runners in a work group and
make sure the total limit of MaxQueueChildren is not
exceeded. Based on patch from Takayuki Yoshizawa of
Techfirm, Inc.
Take care of systems that can generate time values where the
seconds can exceed the usual range of 0 to 59.
Problem noted by Randy Diffenderfer of EDS.
Avoid regeneration of identical queue identifiers by processes
whose process id is the same as that of the initial
sendmail process that was used to start the daemon.
Problem noted by Randy Diffenderfer of EDS.
When a milter invokes smfi_delrcpt() compare the supplied
recipient address also against the printable addresses
of the current list to deal with rewritten addresses.
Based on patch from Sean Hanson of The Asylum.
BadRcptThrottle now also works for addresses which return the
error mailer, e.g., virtusertable entries with the
right hand side error:. Patch from Per Hedeland.
Fix printing of 8 bit characters as octals in log messages.
Based on patch by Andrey J. Melnikoff.
Undo change of algorithm for MIME 7-bit base64 encoding to 8-bit
text that has been introduced in 8.12.3. There are some
examples where the new code fails, but the old code works.
To get the 8.12.3-8.12.10 version, compile sendmail with
-DMIME7TO8_OLD=0. If you have an example of improper
7 to 8 bit conversion please send it to us.
Return normal error code for unknown SMTP commands instead of
the one specified by check_relay or a milter for a
connection. Problem noted by Andrzej Filip.
Some ident responses contain data after the terminating CRLF which
causes sendmail to log "POSSIBLE ATTACK...newline in string".
To avoid this everything after LF is ignored.
If the operating system supports O_EXLOCK and HASFLOCK is set
then a possible race condition for creating qf files
can be avoided. Note: the race condition does not
exist within sendmail, but between sendmail and an
external application that accesses qf files.
Log the proper options name for TLS related mising files for
the CACertPath, CACertFile, and DHParameters options.
Do not split an envelope if it will be discarded, otherwise df
files could be left behind. Problem found by Wolfgang
Breyha.
The use of the environment variables HOME and HOSTALIASES has been
deprecated and will be removed in version 8.13. This only
effects configuration which preserve those variable via the
'E' command in the cf file as sendmail clears out its entire
environment.
Portability:
Add support for Darwin 7.0/Mac OS X 10.3 (a.k.a. Panther).
Solaris 10 has unsetenv(), patch from Craig Mohrman of
Sun Microsystems.
LIBMILTER: Add extra checks in case a broken MTA sends bogus data
to libmilter. Based on code review by Rob Grzywinski.
SMRSH: Properly assemble commands that contain '&&' or '||'.
Problem noted by Eric Lee of Talking Heads.
New Files:

Changes sinec 0.9.82:
- Fixes to make it compile with gcc 3.3 and Tcl/Tk 8.4.
- Highlight a window when your nick appears in it.
- fix for a bug that causes QuIRC to crash on nicknames longer than
30 characters.
- switch to Tk 8.4.
- Enable pkgviews installtion
- Use DIST_SUBDIR because the distfile doesn't have any version
information.
- Update MASTER_SITES.
Major changes since 3.09:
- Much-improved handling of PC-style filenames.
- Works with Tk 8.4.
Changes since 7.1.2:
- More merging functionality. Helps you tag the merged-from and merged-to
versions, and if you use the tagnames properly, draws curving arrows between
them to show where merges occurred. The tagnames are configurable with the
cvscfg(mergetoformat) and cvscfg(mergefromformat) variables.
- Requires Tk 8.4 for the curved lines.
- Fixed bug in annotation browser wherein it didn't change colors when
"Days per Color" changed.
- No longer pops an error dialog if the background exec fails. Just beeps at
you. The command's output should tell you what happened.
- TkDiff v4.0:
"r" key binding to recompute diffs
fix for diff symbols in Change Bars disappearing
preferences for showing whitespace differences
better tolerance of Windows filenames
- Bugfix for hangs in 7.1.3
- Bugfix for uninitialized X1 coordinate
- Compatible with CVS 1.11.8, which lost the global -l flag.
- Mainline tkdiff is back. Tkdiff is on Sourceforge now and there's an
official beta, which is pretty stable.
- Annotation browsing is available from the log branch browser. There's also
a button on the main window to make it more likely that people will discover
the function, which can be most useful.
- Merging will work to the branch as well as to the trunk in the logcanvas
browser.
- Solved a few problems with the exec functionality. High CPU usage is gone.
It now gives back the UI (to one degree or another) and captures
stderr (both) instead of doing one or the other.
- Made a filter for single-line module-diff (patch) output. Now files that
were added, removed, or changed are easier to pick out visually.
- Added an Apply button to the module-level checkout, export, and patch
dialogs. Since they don't save state, you could have to type the same
thing over and over on subsequent operations.
