libXext/buildlink3.mk, now that it is included there.
Leave the places where its API version is set or variables from it
are used directly (about 3 packages).
* Respect maximise states while resizing
* Add basic .desktop file
* Add configuration file
$HOME/.evilwmrc - options are one per line, omitting leading dash.
* Add long alternatives to -g, -v and -s
-geometry, -vdesk and -sticky.
* Record pre-maximisation dimensions in evilwm-specific window properties
_EVILWM_UNMAXIMISED_HORZ and _EVILWM_UNMAXIMISED_VERT.
* Extensive EWMH support. See doc/standards.html for details.
* Mostly new Makefile
* Clean up terminology: use "fixed" instead of "sticky": EWMH uses
the term "sticky" to mean something different.
* Add ability to toggle visible state of docks with Ctrl+Alt+D
Usually apps like pagers or launch bars.
* Add -dock option to force app to be considered a dock
* Snap-to-border and colourmap support no longer optional
Though -snap still defaults to 0 (off).
* fix: drawing window outline with border_width > 1 [David Flynn]
(bottom and right edges wouldn't encompass the border)
* build: enable out-of-tree builds [David Flynn]
* build: enable ISO c99 [David Flynn]
* Fix snapping on multiple screens [Ben Stern]
* Window gravity behviour fixes.
* Remove warning about strict-aliasing rules [Larry Doolittle]

* Fix interaction with X and signal handler
Larry Doolittle encountered a problem with the signal handler's
interaction with later versions of X.org and submitted this patch. It
adds an interruptible version of XNextEvent() borrowed from the Blender
source code (copyright Mark J. Kilgard) that allows a more graceful
exit from the main event loop rather than getting the signal handler to
do it.

${PREFIX}/${PKGMANDIR}.
Fixes PR 35265, although I did not use the patch provided therein.
[0.99.24]
* Remove unused def_cmap field from ScreenInfo struct.
* Added -nosoliddrag option (thanks to Erik Auerswald).
* Rewrite grab_keysym() macro as a function.
[0.99.25]
* Regrab keys on receipt of MappingNotify event
* Make spawn() use find_current_screen()
* Fix build errors/warnings when VWM not defined
* Track vdesk separately on each managed screen
* Remove is_sticky tests when only need to check vdesk
* Only snap against clients on the same screen
* Fix configure requests containing sibling information
* Move unused variable workarounds after declarations
* Flesh out some switches with default cases
* Remove redundant call to XShapeSelectInput()
* Move grab_keysym() to main.c, make static
* Make recalculate_sweep() static
* Wrap client_update_current into select_client
* Restructure client_update_current()
* Wrap fetching of mwm_hints property into init_geometry
* Omit some unneeded code when VWM not defined
EWMH atoms mostly, also some keymap defines.
* Code tidy
Dead declarations removed from evilwm.h. Some reordering of other
declarations. Nothing that should affect anything.
* Use XQueryPointer to find pointer root instead of trying to track it
* Macro-ise get_mouse_position()
* Declare some of opt_* as static in main.c
* Don't track bounding_shaped
This is never used outside set_shape and I'm not convinced that
XShapeQueryExtents refers to the old values.
* Fix foolish lookup of screen number where it's already known
* Expose events not needed on frame windows
* Grab buttons when making client instead of every enter event
* Refactored handle_key_event()

EWMH hints added so vdesk/sticky states persist across wm change.
2006-01-25
Alt+Tab behaviour modified to be more in line with what most people
expect (single Alt+Tab goes back to previously selected window).
Added -altmask to override Shift as default control behaviour change
key.
Added resizing with Ctrl+Alt+Shift+[HJKL].
2006-01-26
Released 0.99.22.
Changelog:
- Removed dependency on Motif header files: supply just as much hint
structure information as is necessary to interpret Motif hints.
- Switch to using a window border for frame's colour, don't touch
frame background. This allows aterm's "fast transparency" to work.
- various bug fixes, and code improvements
2005-10-06
Info window movement made a bit more sensible.
Don't remove clients from within error handler, instead flag for
removal.
While removing client, only reparent to root if window is withdrawn
or window manager is shutting down (fixes xpdf-in-firefox bug).
Window close key with shift held will XKillClient().
LD: Replace logic to decide if we have a shaped window (cribbed from
fvwm-2.5.10).
LD: Warp mouse pointer to a visible point in shaped windows.
2005-12-29
Documentation updates.
2004-07-10
Fix Alt+Tab crash when there are no clients.
2004-07-11
Coalesce move() and resize() into moveresize().
Refactor window move/resize-by-mouse to eliminate arg to moveresize().
2004-07-12
Added -app option to specify default vdesk (incl sticky), positions
and dimensions.
2004-07-13
Fix so shape information is applied on WM startup.
2005-03-19
Split geometry and vdesk out of -app option into separate -g and -v
options (each apply to the last -app defined).
2005-03-20
Add -mask1 and mask2 switches to override default modifier grabs.
2005-03-29
Tidy client_update_current using Larry Doolittle's patch.
2005-03-30
Handle applications reparenting a window to root - manage them unless
in Withdrawn state.
2005-04-04
Use strchr,strrchr instead of index,rindex.
Set border size to frame size when unmanaging window.
2005-04-06
Return to properly implemented interpretation of win_gravity on
initial mapping of windows.
Restore window's original border width on WM exit.
2005-04-20
Remove deprecated 'vdesk' external pager support.
2005-04-25
Merging Larry Doolittle's patches: Stricter warning settings for gcc.
LD: Cast unused paramters to void.
2005-04-26
Applied LD's patch to declare opt_term statically for now (intent
is to allow arguments to program specified with -term).
LD: Try to print ssize_t correctly and within strict standards.
LD: Add $(EXTRA_DEFINES) to Makefile.
LD: Improve punctuation in comments.
LD: Use long instead of CARD32 for argument to XChangeProperty()
due to odd X Consortium decision.
LD: Un-shadow variable p in remove_client debugging segment.
LD: Assign opt_term at compile time instead of malloc.
LD: Fuss with execvp casting and comments (edited for brevity by CA).
2005-06-02
Ignore PPosition during window placement (back to old behaviour of
positioning window under pointer unless user-specified).
Several changes are involved since they are all interrelated. These
changes affect about 1000 files.
The first major change is rewriting bsd.builtin.mk as well as all of
the builtin.mk files to follow the new example in bsd.builtin.mk.
The loop to include all of the builtin.mk files needed by the package
is moved from bsd.builtin.mk and into bsd.buildlink3.mk. bsd.builtin.mk
is now included by each of the individual builtin.mk files and provides
some common logic for all of the builtin.mk files. Currently, this
includes the computation for whether the native or pkgsrc version of
the package is preferred. This causes USE_BUILTIN.* to be correctly
set when one builtin.mk file includes another.
The second major change is teach the builtin.mk files to consider
files under ${LOCALBASE} to be from pkgsrc-controlled packages. Most
of the builtin.mk files test for the presence of built-in software by
checking for the existence of certain files, e.g. <pthread.h>, and we
now assume that if that file is under ${LOCALBASE}, then it must be
from pkgsrc. This modification is a nod toward LOCALBASE=/usr. The
exceptions to this new check are the X11 distribution packages, which
are handled specially as noted below.
The third major change is providing builtin.mk and version.mk files
for each of the X11 distribution packages in pkgsrc. The builtin.mk
file can detect whether the native X11 distribution is the same as
the one provided by pkgsrc, and the version.mk file computes the
version of the X11 distribution package, whether it's built-in or not.
The fourth major change is that the buildlink3.mk files for X11 packages
that install parts which are part of X11 distribution packages, e.g.
Xpm, Xcursor, etc., now use imake to query the X11 distribution for
whether the software is already provided by the X11 distribution.
This is more accurate than grepping for a symbol name in the imake
config files. Using imake required sprinkling various builtin-imake.mk
helper files into pkgsrc directories. These files are used as input
to imake since imake can't use stdin for that purpose.
The fifth major change is in how packages note that they use X11.
Instead of setting USE_X11, package Makefiles should now include
x11.buildlink3.mk instead. This causes the X11 package buildlink3
and builtin logic to be executed at the correct place for buildlink3.mk
and builtin.mk files that previously set USE_X11, and fixes packages
that relied on buildlink3.mk files to implicitly note that X11 is
needed. Package buildlink3.mk should also include x11.buildlink3.mk
when linking against the package libraries requires also linking
against the X11 libraries. Where it was obvious, redundant inclusions
of x11.buildlink3.mk have been removed.

Dave Holland sent a patch to fix some Alt+Tab misbehaviour.
2003-09-18
Fixed "losing control of windows" problem when switching desktops
rapidly on slow machines.
Released 0.99.16.
2003-09-25
Hopefully *really* fix that bug. Testers suggest to me that it is
now really gone.
2003-10-15
Integrated a patch from Neil Drumm to implement snap-to-border.
Run evilwm with -snap num to enable the behaviour (num specifies
the proximity in pixels to snap to - 10 is quite nice).
It's worth noting that Per Weijnitz sent a similar patch a while
ago, but I never got around to using it :(
Released 0.99.17.
Patch provided by Jonathan Perkin <jonathan@perkin.org.uk> via PR
pkg/22239.
Changes:
2003-06-10
Warp mouse to topleft before bottomright for small viewport users.
Fix the xpdf problem (started up in tiny window), hopefully doesn't
break anything else (XSizeHints manpage suggests width/height hints
are obsolete).
2003-06-27
Applied Larry's identifier shadowing changes, and malloc return
value checks.
Patches provided by Jonathan Perkin <sketch at rd dot bbc dot co dot uk>
and Toru TAKAMIZU <ttaka at earth dot email dot ne dot jp> in PR pkg/19257
with minor tweaks by me.
Changes:
2002-11-18
Fixed Alt-Tab-into-nowhere bug that I think would cause an infinite
loop if you tried Alt-Tab on an empty virtual desktop.
Extended the NumLock keyboard fixes to the mouse button grabs.
2002-11-19
Ripped out most of the VDESK_BOTH code (which didn't work) and
replaced it with code that just calls the 'vdesk' application (which
does).
2002-11-20
Abstract a couple more grabs out into macros - code tidy.
2002-11-23
Fix small problem with border colours in new code.
Documentation updates. Re-fix multihead "support".
2002-11-24
Better multihead support - entering managed screen will grab keyboard
events, leaving will deselect "current" window.
Documentation updates.
Released 0.99.12.
Argh! Only set focus to PointerRoot on entering root window if we
don't have a current window (I'd killed sloppy focus...)
2002-11-26
Released 0.99.13.
First draft proper multihead support - looks like it's working,
needs a bit of testing.
2003-01-15
No complaints so...
Released 0.99.14.
Perkin (sketch@rd.bbc.co.uk), modified slightly by me.
Excerpt from ChangeLog since last version (0.3.11):
2001-07-13
Added -V option.
Start the run up to 1.0. Hopefully this will involve solving the
IE bug, but right now I'm not very concerned about it.
2001-08-24
Grab everything with Mod3Mask as well - this should circumvent the
NumLock problem.
2002-01-03
If an app maps itself (EVIL! EVIL! EVIL!), switch to the virtual
desktop it's on before raising it.
2002-01-22 (vatten@users.sourceforge.net)
Added support for vdesk - an external virtual desktop manager
that works by iconifying windows and mapping them back again.
2002-01-24 (vatten@users.souceforge.net)
Added support for the combination of vdesk and the internal
virtual desktop manager.
2002-01-25
Move all the key bindings out into a separate include file and
add a line in Makefile to override KILL key (for cygwin).
evilwm is a minimalist window manager for the X Window System.
FEATURES
* No window decorations apart from a simple 1 pixel border.
* No icons.
* Good keyboard control, including repositioning and maximise toggles.
* Solid window drags (compile time option - may be slow on old machines).
* Virtual desktops (compile time option).
* Small binary size (even with everything turned on).
