alternative from mk/jpeg.buildlink3.mk
This allows selection of an alternative jpeg library (namely the x86 MMX,
SSE, SSE2 accelerated libjpeg-turbo) via JPEG_DEFAULT=libjpeg-turbo, and
follows the current standard model for alternatives (fam, motif, fuse etc).
The mechanical edits were applied via the following script:
#!/bin/sh
for d in */*; do
[ -d "$d" ] || continue
for i in "$d/"Makefile* "$d/"*.mk; do
case "$i" in *.orig|*"*"*) continue;; esac
out="$d/x"
sed -e 's;graphics/jpeg/buildlink3\.mk;mk/jpeg.buildlink3.mk;g' \
-e 's;BUILDLINK_PREFIX\.jpeg;JPEGBASE;g' \
< "$i" > "$out"
if cmp -s "$i" "$out"; then
rm -f "$out"
else
echo "Edited $i"
mv -f "$i" "$i.orig" && mv "$out" "$i"

needing them and will be removed automatically by pkg_delete when empty.
Packages needing empty directories can use the @pkgdir command in PLIST.

since they always need a C compiler, even when the source code is

For some other packages, stated in the comment that a C compiler is
really not needed.
set OVERRIDE_DIRDEPTH to find any libtool scripts deeper in the WRKSRC
tree unless they're named something other than "libtool".
SHLIBTOOL_OVERRIDE generally doesn't need to be specified either -- just
define it to the empty list and shlibtool-override will look for libtool
scripts.
developer is officially maintaining the package.
The rationale for changing this from "tech-pkg" to "pkgsrc-users" is
that it implies that any user can try to maintain the package (by
submitting patches to the mailing list). Since the folks most likely
to care about the package are the folks that want to use it or are
already using it, this would leverage the energy of users who aren't
developers.
