Sqsh (pronounced skwish) is short for SQshelL (pronounced s-q-shell), it
is intended as a replacement for the venerable 'isql' program supplied
by Sybase. It came about due to years of frustration of trying to do
real work with a program that was never meant to perform real work.
Sqsh is much more than a nice prompt, it is intended to provide much of
the functionality provided by a good shell, such as variables,
redirection, pipes, back-grounding, job control, history, command
completion, and dynamic configuration. Also, as a by-product of the
design, it is remarkably easy to extend and add functionality.
This package enables motif support.
VideoLAN is a project of French students from the Ecole
Centrale Paris and developers from all over the world. Its main
goals is MPEG streaming on a network, but it also features a
standalone multimedia player. The VideoLAN Server can stream
video read from a hard disk, a DVD player, a satellite card or
an MPEG 2 compression card, and unicast or multicast it on a
network. The VideoLAN Client can read the stream from the
network and display it. It can also be used to display video
read locally on the computer : DVDs, VCDs, MPEG and DivX files
and from a satellite card. It is multi-plaform : Linux,
Windows, Mac OS X, BeOS, BSD, Solaris, QNX, iPaq... The
VideoLAN Client and Server now have a full IPv6 support.
sybperl includes four modules: Sybase::DBlib, Sybase::CTlib,
Sybase::BCP and Sybase::Sybperl. The first two implement a thin
wrapper around the Sybase DB-Library and Client Library APIs,
respectively. Sybase::BCP is a specialty module aimed at doing
Bulk-Copy operations, and Sybase::Sybperl is a compatibility module
with sybperl 1.xx (i.e. with the perl 4.x version).
The sybperl modules are thin wrappers around the Sybase APIs. This is
both good and bad. It's good because you have greater control, and
because the API is (obviously) close to the way the server and the
protocol work. It's bad in that it's a proprietary API, and that it is
somewhat verbose.

Major changes since 1.7:
* New build system/directory structure. Should build against ASE
12.0 and FreeTDS now.

* New variable $? contains: - Return status of command executed on
pipe '|' - Return status of expression evaluated for \while or
\if. - Last server error number of severity > 10 (@@error). This
is useful for flow-of-control using the new conditional
statements.

* Fixed \rpc command with @variable names.
* \exit now exits sqsh, no matter how many \loop nesting levels
you are in.
* The user will now be re-prompted to enter a password if a "Login
failed." message is received from the server. This may be
disabled using the new $password_retry variable.

* Created new 'make distrib' option to build a self-contained sqsh
binary distribution.
* $rcfile and $SQSHRC may now be colon delimited lists of sqshrc
files. This allows for system-wide rc files to be loaded first

"/usr/local/etc/sqshrc:$HOME/.sqshrc" (the /usr/local will be
automatically replaced by the contents of --prefix when passed
to configure).
* Fixed -C.
* $SQSHRC no longer needs to be writable.
* sqsh no longer pays attention to quotes inside of comments
during variable expansion.
* Fixed bcp'ing of results from stored procedures.

Use QueueFileMode when opening qf files. This error was a
regression in 8.12.10. Problem detected and diagnosed
Lech Szychowski of the Polish Power Grid Company.
Properly count the number of queue runners in a work group and
make sure the total limit of MaxQueueChildren is not
exceeded. Based on patch from Takayuki Yoshizawa of
Techfirm, Inc.
Take care of systems that can generate time values where the
seconds can exceed the usual range of 0 to 59.

Avoid regeneration of identical queue identifiers by processes
whose process id is the same as that of the initial
sendmail process that was used to start the daemon.

Undo change of algorithm for MIME 7-bit base64 encoding to 8-bit
text that has been introduced in 8.12.3. There are some
examples where the new code fails, but the old code works.
To get the 8.12.3-8.12.10 version, compile sendmail with
-DMIME7TO8_OLD=0. If you have an example of improper
7 to 8 bit conversion please send it to us.
Return normal error code for unknown SMTP commands instead of
the one specified by check_relay or a milter for a
connection. Problem noted by Andrzej Filip.
Some ident responses contain data after the terminating CRLF which
causes sendmail to log "POSSIBLE ATTACK...newline in string".
To avoid this everything after LF is ignored.
If the operating system supports O_EXLOCK and HASFLOCK is set
then a possible race condition for creating qf files
can be avoided. Note: the race condition does not
exist within sendmail, but between sendmail and an
external application that accesses qf files.
Log the proper options name for TLS related mising files for
the CACertPath, CACertFile, and DHParameters options.
Do not split an envelope if it will be discarded, otherwise df
files could be left behind. Problem found by Wolfgang
Breyha.
The use of the environment variables HOME and HOSTALIASES has been
deprecated and will be removed in version 8.13. This only
effects configuration which preserve those variable via the
'E' command in the cf file as sendmail clears out its entire
environment.
Portability:
Add support for Darwin 7.0/Mac OS X 10.3 (a.k.a. Panther).
Solaris 10 has unsetenv(), patch from Craig Mohrman of
Sun Microsystems.
LIBMILTER: Add extra checks in case a broken MTA sends bogus data
to libmilter. Based on code review by Rob Grzywinski.
SMRSH: Properly assemble commands that contain '&&' or '||'.
