Authen::SASL provides an implementation framework that all protocols should be able to share. The included plugin Authen::SASL::Perl implements several of these protocols (DIGEST-MD5, CRAM-MD5, ANONYMOUS, EXTERNAL, LOGIN and PLAIN).
