I'm amazed to see that with this in place the totem-video-thumbnailer now works (instead of crashing) for supported videos! And playback works nicely (not deadly slow, as I remember from prior versions).

GStreamer is a library that allows the construction of graphs of

media-handling components, ranging from simple mp3 playback to complex

audio (mixing) and video (non-linear editing) processing.
