Objects

Electret microphones

Electret micrphones are everywhere in phones, computers, toys etc.. they are cheap and pretty sensitive, perfects to be thrown in an all-terrain performance... Thei only drawback is the need for powering. TODO : Folder about electrect mics

Preamplifiers

Microphones only produce a tiny amount of electricity, which is not enough to be sent directly to a speaker amplifier, we need to pre-amplify the signal to something close to a line level. Preamplifier is a sensitive stage because it can bring a lot of noise. Our pre-amplifier boards also need to provide power directcly to the mic.

We tried preamps with transistors, (BC109C...), but without great succes (mysterious behaviours)... TODO : transistor preamp folder

Then we were much more lucky with op-amp, the version on pre-perforated board had a good gain, no excessive noise and easy to power : op-amp preamplifiers

We still have a variety of amplifier boards found and bought online.

Speakers

We'll focus on tiny to small speaker to give priority on transportability.

We started to mount small and cheap 1w speakers on cork, both for availability, aesthetics and potentially usefull sound absorbtion proriety. At this moment, Cork is just has a front panel.

Still need to try enclosing them totally to have a wider frequency response and get rid of very hi pitch feedbacks produces by our setup when gain is full or mic too close to speaker.
