584772619f Document that patch file names should contain the path and file name. 
E.g. for lib/bar/foo_bar.c the patch file name should be
patch-lib_bar_foo__bar.c
The previous convention is still mentioned.

While here, give more good hints about how to handle patches:
* always add comments
* when sent upstream, note bug reporting URL

60d1181d0c Simplify CVS instructions: 
- multiple steps are harder to understand than single step,
  and commands are black magic to novice user anyway;
- single step also makes instructions more cut-and-paste friendly;
- drop csh support, csh users have more troubles when following
  instructions already, they have to refer to their documentation;
- explain CVS_RSH issues;
- sort CVS subcommands in sample .cvsrc so that it could be more
  comprehensible (this should be moved into separate section in
  appendix along with rest CVS "magic" or just go away).

FIXME: link the list of AnonCVS mirrors.

Discussed with <abs> and <joerg>.

93688a0e21 Add new metadata: PREV_PKGPATH and SUPERSEDES. 
These will be available from pkg_summary(5) database.
To be used to find previous packages when a package is moved
or renamed. (Even though that is not recommended.)

Documented in pkgsrc Guide and in the pkg_summary(5) manual page.

Upcoming commit will have some packages modified to add them.

4a08198baa Explicitly mention that the PKGREVISION must be incremented when a 
dependency of the package changes. I still have problems with some
packages that depend on GConf2, which doesn't exist anymore. The
dependency has silently changed to GConf, without increasing any
PKGREVISION. Same for gnome-vfs2 and gnome-vfs.

f69fbccfa0 Rewrote the section on installing binary packages so that it reads more 
like a HOWTO instead of an arbitrary collection of facts. It also
resembles the new directory layout on ftp.NetBSD.org now, with the
bootstrap.tar.gz installed near the binary packages.

f7dff82948 Add some more GNOME-specific packaging and porting information: 
- Document how to handle .desktop files.
- Document how to handle icons for the hicolor theme.
- Add a chapter detailing the GNOME meta packages, the packaging of new
  applications and the updatee procedure.

Also add some documentation on how to better handle and create patches.
