title: 'Nextcloud App'
visible: true
---
The ability to easily synchronize, upload and download files from your Disroot cloud to your mobile can be very useful in several cases.
In this tutorial we'll show you how to install and work with the Nextcloud mobile app. This app permits you to conveniently access and synchronize your Disroot cloud files from your mobile and download/upload/share/delete without having to use a browser in your mobile to do it or connect it to a laptop to transfer files.
This app does not download the files to a local folder in your mobile, it simply shows the existing files in your cloud. The files are only downloaded if you select them to be downloaded. This way it wont take too much space in your mobile. For uploaded files, if you want to you can keep a local copy in your mobile or not, it's your choice.

##Get and install Nextcloud Mobile app<a name="installmobileapp"></a>
To install the app on android, we recommend you install the [F-droid](https://f-droid.org/) app store. F-droid provides open source applications, and it's way to reduce your dependency of google.
After you installed and setup F-droid you can search and install the [Nexcloud Mobile app](https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=Nextcloud&fdid=com.nextcloud.client/).
IOS users will probably have to pay around 0,99€ for it in the IOS app store.
----------
##Setup account<a name="setupaccount"></a>
Once the app is installed, start it login with you Disroot account credentials:
* **Server:** [https://cloud.disroot.org](https://cloud.disroot.org)

tyitle: 'GNOME - Desktop Integration'
visible: true
---
**This tutorial can be used to integrate disroot cloud with Gnome, Mate, Unity, xfce and KDE desktop environments. In this tutorial we use mostly Gnome. The exception is when talking about KDE.**
----------
Gnome is a very popular, slick, modern and easy to use graphical desktop environment for Linux. It's my desktop of choice and it is mainly due to it's awesome integration with Disroot's cloud services.
Integration with desktop environment means, you no longer need to login to disroots cloud via the browser, every time you need to add or lookup information. It means everything you need is available to you directly from your desktop. Furthermore it makes it look and feel unified with all other apps you use while you work. It's definitely **THE** way to get things done.
In this tutorial I would like to show you how easy and handy it is to integrate your cloud on your computer. Setup procedure should take no longer then few minutes of your time.
----------
#Table of Contents
[Set Online accounts] (#onlineaccounts)
[Calendar] (#calendar)
[Files] (#files)
[Tasks] (#tasks)
[Contacts] (#contacts)
[Email] (#email)
[News] (#news)
----------
##Set Online accounts<a name="onlineaccounts"></a>
<br>
**NOTE: The following method doesnt work in KDE. The online accounts app in KDE doesn't have the owncloud/nextcloud option. Files and email have to be set up apart from contacts, calendar, tasks. You can see how to setup KAddressBook in the latter part of this section because it covers the setup for contacts, calendar, tasks.**
In order to get up and running, all you need to do is:
- Go to Gnome **Settings** (eg. type settings in the dashboard search)
- Open **"Online Accounts"**
- Select **"Owncloud"**
- Follow instructions to fill in all your credentials:
- **Address:** https://cloud.disroot.org
- **Username:** *yourusername*
- **Password:** *your_super_secret_password*
If you did that correctly now you can choose which aspects of the cloud you want to integrate. You can switch them on and off at any time depending on your use case. I choose to integrate it all.
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/8a737eeca1f649ef1af67a193c007c163df152b9.gif
<br>
In KDE, we need to first setup an account in the app Kaddressbook.
<br>
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/fb3dfc54b96627309f52634e931aba4b6e417943.png
<br>
* In order to set it up all you need to do is:
* Go to Kaddressbook
* Select File > New > Add Address Book
* Select DAV Groupware resource
* Follow instructions to fill in all your credentials:
* **Username:** _yourusername_
* **Password:** _your_super_secret_password_
* In the option "select one of these servers", select: **owncloud**
* Host: place the address [cloud.disroot.org](http://https:cloud.disroot.org)
* Installation path: leave it blank
* Select the option: "use secure connection"
* Press:
* Next
* Test connection
* And if the connection checked ok, press finish
After this you need to manually add the URL links for contacts and calendars, in the general settings.
<br>
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/5cf5304bc1fa19cfb4f6f8d85bde59ccac4a7588.gif
<br>
The general settings will automatically appear after you have pressed finish.
Then you need to:
* Select CalDAV and edit
* Replace the remote URL, with the URL of your disroot calendar: https://cloud.disroot.org/remote.php/dav/calendars/YOUR_USERNAME/YOUR_CALENDARS/
* Press "Fetch" and then "Ok"
* Select CardDAV and edit
* Replace the remote URL, with the URL of your disroot contacts: https://cloud.disroot.org/remote.php/dav/addressbooks/users/YOUR_USERNAME/YOUR_ADDRESS_BOOK/
* Press "Fetch" and then "Ok"
You can find the correct URL in your disroot calendar and contacts apps share options
In the general settings you can also:
* Change the name of the general display
* Remove the time retrieval limits on calendars so it will sync all your events
<br>
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/5cf5304bc1fa19cfb4f6f8d85bde59ccac4a7588.gif
<br>
----------
##Calendar<a name="calendar"></a>
<br>
One of the useful features is calendar. You will notice that your calendars are already integrated if you press on the **current time** in your top bar on the desktop. A popup window with a calendar will automatically display all the events from your disroot's cloud account. You will of course receive all notifications on upcoming events as well.
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/cb8f61b5041e096b1e77d96ca4e7b7436be611c8.gif
In order to add/edit/remove events or have better overview on all your calendars, I suggest installing Gnome Calendar app.
Depending on your operating system you should search for it in your "Software" application (linux app store).
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/e0d0d841f730f8b01991536389972096dcfdea4a.png" width="690" height="79">
Once you get it installed, you'll notice your calendars are already integrated thanks to the global "Online Accounts" you set up earlier. The application is very simple, yet complete in all the features you need. You can select which calendars you would like to see and which ones to disable (in case you have numerous calendars). You can create/modify/delete events, and they'll be all synchronized with disroot cloud, which means also with all your devices connected to it.
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/f121dbafea964047c7fdacf5f67c847b3433efd1.gif
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/8da8c6195a34bb1624b0be0ea6a51c915f14bce6.gif
In KDE you can use the KOrganizer app, it has both calendar and tasks.
<br>
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/58d49e4a31e547b859b17e28c34feb8e6fe57699.png" width="276" height="51">
<br>
Your events will already be synchronized /adding/removing/editing events is very similar to the Calendar app described before, any changes will be synchronized with your disroot calendar.
<br>
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/345344e10f000cd66b6565dc3940103befb1c3da.gif
<br>
----------
##Files<a name="files"></a>
<br>
If you open your "Files" app you will notice there is a new network location that points to your disroot account. That's right. You can easily, add/remove/copy/modify files on your cloud without a need to download them onto your device or login via web-browser. This is very different then using "nextcloud client app", as it does not sync the content of the cloud files to your computer. **Remember you are working directly on your cloud storage** (whatever you change, affects your cloud storage Immediately).
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/85cbc343eb33c6c54456ea9dcfe47e8580a74839.png" width="590" height="347">
In KDE, you need to add a network folder to access your disroot files remotely. Go to your start menu select "Computer" <img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/198a2a2e92926893bd0e4540b2eee9577ce9c616.png" width="98" height="85"> and then "Network" <img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/aeede93aac38004e4555147cd1647e20b9ccd45a.png" width="162" height="48">
After that:
* Select "Add Network Folder"
* Select "WebFolder Webdav"
* Follow the instructions to fill your credentials:
* **Name:** the name you want to give to the folder
* **User:** _your disroot username_
* **Server:** [cloud.disroot.org](https://cloud.disroot.org)
* **Folder:**/remote.php/dav/files/YOUR_DISROOT_USERNAME/
* Select the checkbox for "Use encryption"
* Hit "Save and Connect"
* You will be asked for your password,
<br>
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/5f735c7b26c502cd726653bbccf612770b68b795.gif
<br>
After that you can look in your files app in "network" for your disroot files. Like mentioned before:
> You can easily, add/remove/copy/modify files on your cloud without a need to download them onto your device or login via web-browser. This is very different then using "nextcloud client app", as it does not sync the content of the cloud files to your computer. **Remember you are working directly on your cloud storage** (whatever you change, affects your cloud storage Immediately).
----------
##Tasks<a name="tasks"></a>
<br>
Tasks is very handy tool to organize your work. Thanks to integrations you no longer need to login via browser to make use of them. Just navigate to "Software" application (app store, or any other means you use to install software) and look for "GNOME To Do" application.
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/5b58297de15c4d324d85660630b4752eac6d261f.png" width="690" height="75">
Just like with Calendars, you will see that all your tasks are automatically synchronized. You can now easily add new tasks, deadlines, descriptions, add notes, priority as well as organize them in main and related task tree. The application is pretty intuitive and easy to use.
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/afb94958a83e7ace850418d9b2c122a448097fbf.gif
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/6552fc44ee66e163d018c9f51ff561d19eae8a44.gif
In KDE you can use the KOrganizer app, it also has task included. Like in with the calendar option, your tasks will already be synchronized. You can easily add/edit/remove tasks and set deadlines.
<br>
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/ebbc0797da1d6fc57c433764a8c5d4dea369a936.gif
----------
##Contacts <a name="contacts"></a>
<br>
Getting contact integration is as easy as everything you did so far. Just follow the same pattern. First get "Contacts" application in case you don't have it installed by default.
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/d1aa4ee77e5a105a6c0f6d1432781cea61e54b87.png" width="690" height="79">
Next you need to switch your default address book to the one provided by dirstoot cloud.
Just select "Change Address Book" from the Contact app menu. Once you select your disroot account as the current one, all your contacts will be synced to your computer. All new contacts or any modification will be synced back to your disroot cloud and all the devices connected to it.
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/a57d27723c6331e63562768820723176154d0b44.gif
In KDE you can use your KAddressBook <img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/e54675605e2e9168aa51f77fffdc97c4ce334a54.png" width="222" height="49"> to organize your contacts, the working principals are identical to the "Contacts" app described before.
<br>
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/45732239d5ae1578d50da9dfab0c65394bb595a1.gif
<br>
----------
##Email<a name="email"></a>
<br>
If you never wored with email desktop client and always used webapp to access your email you simply do it wrong! Despite the trend in which big corporations try to convince you otherwise, destkop clients give you integration with your work you always missed. The most popular open source email client is Thunderbird (setup is covered in [this](https://forum.disroot.org/t/email-how-to-setup-email-clients/213#Thunderbird) tutorial). If you don't like Thunderbird and would like to integrate your Email into Gnome, there is also an easy solution for that. Open again your "Gnome Settings" and click on "Online Accounts". Now you need to scroll all the way down to the "other" option and choose for it. Next, select IMAP Account. At this stage you will be asked several questions regarding your account and mail server setup. Just follow the list below.
**email address:** *<your_username>*@disroot.org
**Name:** A name for your account (can be anything)
**IMAP Settings:**
**IMAP Server:** disroot.org
**Username:** *your disroot username*
**Password:** *your disroot password*
**encryption:** SSL On dedicated port
**SMTP Settings:**
**SMTP Server:** disroot.org
**Username:** *your disroot username*
**Password:** *your disroot password*
**encryption:** STARTTLS after connecting
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/17aab444320a78f5f53b677d89c1d67d8ece7b98.gif
Now that you have your email setup and integrated with your desktop, you can fire up "Evolution" Mail client and enjoy all your emails, calendars, tasks, and contacts integrated in one application. Magic.. :)
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/14912cef4edbfc576f01ec24b8ee1beee090cdd9.png
As for KDE, again if you don't want to use Thunderbird, you can integrate your emails in KDE desktop, by using KMail<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/38ea7e5cf05f1f91ca0652f5f2722c236dda91b6.png" width="170" height="49">
The setup credentials are the same as described before. After you open KMail, go to:
* Settings
* Configure KMail
* Accounts
You need to configure both receiving (IMAP or POP3) and sending (SMTP) accounts
For IMAP or POP3 go to:
* Receiving
* Add
* Select IMAP or POP3
* Fill the credentials
For SMTP go to:
* Sending
* Add
* SMTP
* Fill the credentials

##News<a name="news"></a>
News app on disroot cloud let's you aggregate all the new posts of your favourite website using RSS Feed, and sync it with all your devices. It comes extra handy when you want to stay on top of news that interest you. Most of the websites offer RSS feeds.Usually you can find them via this <img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/a286215a375767170da00fba7fdb227f659163a2.png" width="20" height="20"> icon, or by typing address similar to https://disroot.org/feed
Besides traditional web app and mobile app we can easily integrate News with your desktop. Just like all the previous app integrations in this tutorial, first step is to install appropriate software. The RSS Feed application that integrates with disroot cloud is **"FeedReader"**, which should be available in your distributions "Software" center (app store), if it isn't then you can look for instructions on how to install it [here](https://github.com/jangernert/feedreader).
Once you get it up and running, all you need to do is fill in your disroot credentials, and you are ready to go.
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/b40968c389c89084c52e6a4ae51a9fc1139ea76d.gif
Once your account is setup, initial synchronization will take place. All your currently subscribed feeds will be synced to your desktop. Just like on mobile or webapp you can now read latest news, add / remove feeds, categorize them etc. Everything will be synced back to your cloud account. The app checks for new posts in the background and sends you desktop notification even if the app itself is closed, so you won't missout on anything.
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/1c633eecb4cf5c896f34d40acc826ef643155c98.gif
<br>
In KDE you can also use **"FeedReader"**, but it's not in Kubuntu "Software Center", you need to install it via PPA. You can see how to do it [here](https://github.com/jangernert/feedreader), in the "ElementaryOS/Ubuntu" section

* Replace the remote URL, with the URL of your disroot calendar: https://cloud.disroot.org/remote.php/dav/calendars/YOUR_USERNAME/YOUR_CALENDARS/
* Press "Fetch" and then "Ok"
* Select CardDAV and edit

##Calendar<a name="calendar"></a>
<br>
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/e0d0d841f730f8b01991536389972096dcfdea4a.png" width="690" height="79">
<br>

<br>
Your events will already be synchronized /adding/removing/editing events is very similar to the Calendar app described before, any changes will be synchronized with your disroot calendar.
<br>

<br>
----------
##Files<a name="files"></a>
<br>
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/85cbc343eb33c6c54456ea9dcfe47e8580a74839.png" width="590" height="347">
After that:
* Select "Add Network Folder"
* Select "WebFolder Webdav"
* Follow the instructions to fill your credentials:
* **Name:** the name you want to give to the folder
* **User:** _your disroot username_
* **Server:** [cloud.disroot.org](https://cloud.disroot.org)
* **Folder:**/remote.php/dav/files/YOUR_DISROOT_USERNAME/
* Select the checkbox for "Use encryption"
* Hit "Save and Connect"
* You will be asked for your password,
<br>
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/5f735c7b26c502cd726653bbccf612770b68b795.gif
<br>
----------
##Tasks<a name="tasks"></a>
<br>
Tasks is very handy tool to organize your work. Thanks to integrations you no longer need to login via browser to make use of them. Just navigate to "Software" application (app store, or any other means you use to install software) and look for "GNOME To Do" application.
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/5b58297de15c4d324d85660630b4752eac6d261f.png" width="690" height="75">
<br>

----------
##Contacts <a name="contacts"></a>
<br>
Getting contact integration is as easy as everything you did so far. Just follow the same pattern. First get "Contacts" application in case you don't have it installed by default.
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/d1aa4ee77e5a105a6c0f6d1432781cea61e54b87.png" width="690" height="79">
<br>

<br>
----------
##Email<a name="email"></a>
<br>
* Settings
* Configure KMail
* Accounts
You need to configure both receiving (IMAP or POP3) and sending (SMTP) accounts
For IMAP or POP3 go to:
* Receiving
* Add
* Select IMAP or POP3
* Fill the credentials
For SMTP go to:
* Sending
* Add
* SMTP
* Fill the credentials

<br>
In KDE you can also use **"FeedReader"**, but it's not in Kubuntu "Software Center", you need to install it via PPA. You can see how to do it [here](https://github.com/jangernert/feedreader), in the "ElementaryOS/Ubuntu" section

tyitle: 'Thunderbird - Syncing Contacts, Calendars and Tasks'
visible: true

The contact and calendar features in Disroot/Nexcloud are pretty cool but if you have your Disroot email connected in a email client like Thunderbird it's nice to have the contacts and calendar in Disroot integrated with Thunderbird and access them from one place in your desktop.
----------
## <p>Table of contents</p>
[1 - Installing Add-ons] (#Add-ons)
[2 - Integrating calendar with Thunderbird] (#calendar)
[3 - Integrating contacts with Thunderbird] (#contacts)
----------
## 1 - Installing Add-ons <a name="Add-ons"></a>
To do both tasks you will need to install two Add-ons in Thunderbird:
* Lightning (a calendar for Thunderbird)
* So Go Connector (to sync you contacts)
Even if you just want to sync your contacts you will still need the lightning add-on. So says the Nextcloud manual [here](https://docs.nextcloud.com/server/9.0/user_manual/pim/sync_thunderbird.html)
**Installing Lightning**
In Thunderbird go to > tools > Add-ons
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/fc2b3782e398c8594a2f99502f32220d53ef6a7a.png" width="690" height="460">
In the Add-ons page on the upper right corner you will find a search bar. On that search bar type "Lightning" and press enter after that you will see has the first option the Lightning Add-on and an install button. Press install
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/0e597e1dbe8206534ccb72b94e7486ddb488b606.png" width="690" height="460">
You will need to restart Thunderbird in order to finish the installation of both Add-ons
**Installing So Go Connector**
This Add-on is not in the Add-ons menu we have to download it from the developers website [here](https://sogo.nu/download.html#/frontends)
On the website select **"SoGo Connector"**
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/fa373d6e2c2442d1110bbaf9845c25a380c1074a.png" width="690" height="347">
On Thunderbird Add-ons menu select install from file
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/7136a1a36bc4d7e775ead89f129fe43d4b7748d7.png" width="690" height="413">
Select SoGo connector from wherever the download was made to in your computer.
The file extension of the SoGo Connector is .xpi
Select it and press open.
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/eff98658f6e18fc02f50be7211c500a60ceab408.png" width="636" height="500">
The following image should appear next, just press install
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/6542f3531d7952e54f4d0ec1a0617ae9795512d6.png" width="606" height="404">
For both Add-ons to finish their installations you will need to restart Thunderbird
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/f1caea6a78d1e89275d73af1b7cf74035b310e4c.png" width="690" height="413">

In the next panel you will be asked to set the name and url:
* The name is the name you want to give to your address book in thunderbird
* The url is the link that you got earlier from the contact app in Disroot
In this same panel
You can set the periodic syncing to 5 minutes (the default is 15 minutes)
You can set the contacts to read only if you want to (but if you do that you wont be able to edit the contacts in Thunderbird)
When you are done press "ok"

News app is pretty handy tool to keep track of the new articles and posts of all the websites you like to follow in one place. Disroot cloud provides great and simple to use app that does the job for you and syncs it to all your devices. In this tutorial we'll try to cover the basic usage, as well as show you how to integrate it onto your device.
----------
##Table of Contents:
[News app on Disroot](#web)
[News app on Android](#android)
[News app on Gnome like desktop](#gnome)
News app on Sailfish
News app on iOS
News app on MacOS
[News app on Windows](#windows)
----------
##News App on Disroot<a name="web"></a>
<br>
To get into the app form webbrowser ,just click news app icon <img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/f59d6ff066f9c23f6e8088aa6eb5171dfd997076.png" width="21" height="19"> in the top bar. General idea behind the app is very simple. You add feed of your favorite sites, get notification on new articles, and read then without the need to go to the website, open lots of tabs and get distracted half way.
So let's get things rolling:
###Add new feeds
Most of the websites provide [RSS](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RSS) or Atom feeds. Feeds are usually represented by this <img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/8230b4cc755b6e3f1b82bb0501203454000f1cd9.png" width="15" height="15"> icon or by guessing the feed url like: https://disroot.org/feed (yes we need to change that). Once you have the link ready you can copy it and add it to your news app.
To add the feed simply click on the **"+ Subscribe"** button and fill in the URL of the feed you previously copied.
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/7bc7b9470c211eb6a7ac633bd157cd16e2bebecc.png" width="264" height="360">
For better overview and sorting you can create Folders and assign feeds to them. To create new folder hit **"+ New Folder"** button on the left-side bar. Now you can "drag and drop" feeds you wish to add to folders.
###Feed options
Every feed can be optimized to your needs. Clicking on <img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/0e30474434d0516cc3ecdecef8626f4d486170a8.png" width="36" height="25"> icon:

## News App on Android<a name="android"></a>
<br>
### Get it
To get news app on your android device we recommend visiting f-droid and adding it's app store. [F-droid](https://f-droid.org/) provides free (as in freedom) and trusted applications. Using that store over Google Play is a great step forward to free yourself.
Once you have f-droid installed and running, you can search for [OCReader](https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=news&fdid=email.schaal.ocreader) within the F-droid app or download and install it directly form the [website](https://f-droid.org/repository/browse/?fdfilter=news&fdid=email.schaal.ocreader)
### Setup
When that's done you can fire up the app, and login with your disroot account.

tyitle: 'Pads - Keeping Track of your pads'
visible: true
---
Etherpad and Ethercalc are collaborative applications for multi-user real-time document edition. You can reach them directly from your browser at: https://pad.disroot.org and https://calc.disroot.org No user account is needed to make use of them. However our cloud comes with very handy plugin that helps you keep track of all your pads, just as if they are one of your files.
#Idea behind pads
The idea behind this software is very simple. It's a text/spreadsheet editor that lives in the web. Everything you type in gets written to your pad automatically. You can work on a document with multiple people at the same time without a need to save and pass copies of the documents to each other. Once your work is done, you can export the pad to a format of your choice. To read more of the general guide through the interface you can check this page **( page under construction)**.
#Usage
Below you can read how to make use of ownpad - a plugin for disroot cloud instance.
##creating new pads
Creating new pad works the same as creating new file. Click on "+" icon and choose to create either pad (text editor) or calc (spreadsheet). Once you give it a name a new file with .pad/.calc extension will be created. You can move, share that file just like any other file you have on your cloud account.
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/acc9e132525ea655d19bf849966301cfd0f9c3f0.gif
##Opening
To open the newly created pad, just click on it's name. The application will open up your pad using pad.disroot.org/calc.disroot.org within the cloud interface. You can now easily work on your document and once you're done, use the red icon on your right to close it. All changes are written the moment you start typing so there is no need to save the file before hand. Since the file lives in the web, you can come back to it any time you want.
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/b4be59c4affde50733dd52f94dac9760208d4120.gif
##Sharing
Sharing pads with other disroot users is the same as sharing normal files. Click on "sharing" <img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/9abc08ab13e3c0463e767280d3ba99070e7a7e6f.png" width="32" height="31">icon and select with whom you want to share the file with. Note using public link will not work as easy since this are not normal files.
In order to share with someone outside disroot cloud, you should share the actual link to the pad. You can do it by opening your pad in the browser and hovering above it's name. You will see the actual link to the pad, which you can then copy and send it to anyone you wish to share the pad with.
https://forum.disroot.org/uploads/default/original/1X/24afd36ee24342f81921175cd39e983e70d6f7f8.gif
##Deleting pads
It is impossible to delete pads. Once created they stay online. In fact anyone who could guess the url could look it up. That's why disroot cloud's plugin creates links to your pads using random strings instead of the name you specify when creating the file. In that way the links to the pads are impossible to guess making them safe from anyone but you and users you share the pads with.

Since April 11th 2016 Disroot has enabled [pad (etherpad)](https://pad.disroot.org) and [spreadsheet (ethercalc)](https://calc.disroot.org) management directly in your owncloud interface. Now you will be able to create new "files", share them with others and process them just like any other file in your cloud, while still enjoying the seamless collaborative editing function.
**Note!** Those aren't files containing your data but links to your work on either https://pad.disroot.org or https://calc.disroot.org. All the pads and spreadsheets are **removed after 3 months of inactivity** so please keep that in mind, and when you are done working on the pads, make a "real" copy and place it in your owncloud files.
To create pads or calcs within owncloud, simple click on the "+" icon, just as if you were creating a text file, a new folder or uploading stuff.
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/6a6a065372515fa9d760cd4662445e966749304a.png" width="525" height="317">
Now give it a name and once the pad is created, you will see it listed as any other file in your owncloud files:
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/938dd7652b2b282bfcdb654ac2e62600235d466f.png" width="690" height="29">
Once you click on the name you will be redirected to either [pad](https://pad.disroot.org) or [calc](https://calc.disroot.org) where you can continue your work.
When in the "pad", you can see the name of the pad in the top bar. This is not the real name. For better security, the real name consists of random characters, making it almost impossible to guess by unauthorized people. If you want to know the real url of the pad you are working on, simply hover over the name in the top bar:
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/44f05dd7a717ba51ac2f45abdc3ca20be9be0ffd.png" width="600" height="84">
Please note once again that the created (ether)file in your owncloud files is just a link to actual pad or spreadsheet and that all pads and spreadsheets that are inactive for 3 months will be deleted.

tyitle: 'Calling with Spreed'
visible: true

Since January 2017 we've introduced spreed calls to our cloud. It's very simple audio/video conference app you can use to communicate not only with other disroot users but with anyone who has a computer connected to the internet and up to date web browser supporting WebRTC technology.
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/bcd4d6df734d9f943d55b18f154513144e628630.png" width="690" height="430">
The interface of the application is very simple. The left side bar shows you the list of rooms you have created.
On the bottom right of the window you will see your avatar and few options where you can:
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/3b4e224536211f8e650572fe26ded9f1e574e03f.png" width="294" height="220">
- mute/un-mute your microphone
- switch on/off your camera
- switch on/off fullscreen mode
That's pretty much it. You should be ready to start your new call
##Creating Calls
To start calling, you need to create a room. Click on **"Choose person"** to do so. In the popup window you have an option to invite existing disroot account, or create public room.
You will see there is a new room listed on the left sidebar.
When clicking on the options button of the room, you can either:
- invite more people
- create/delete public link
- leave the call/room
<img src="/uploads/default/original/1X/5622ad57c2ab57131d618ba17b2b97b89593dca3.png" width="253" height="279">
There is no real difference between disroot user rooms and public rooms as in both cases you can either invite disroot users or create/remove public link rooms.
Once you initiate the call by pressing on the room's name, a notification will be sent to invited disroot user or (in case of public room instance) you will have to wait for at least one other participant to join in.
Once they join, you can start having your video call.
